Description A paint study I started while drinking my morning coffee. (Please bear with me as a learn to paint. This process is very new to me!)

This is my young Dunmer, Valmion of House Hlaalu. He is a House Protector, Merchant and student of the Tribunal Temple.

This outlander would like to repeat what everyone else here has said: amazing! I've never seen a texture quite like that in digital paintings.

Oh gosh, he looks amazing! (I remember him and his fashion-show from the game, too!)
I absolutely love the limited colour palette, and those nice, chalky brushstrokes! You are making simply breath-taking progress with your digital painting; it's very exciting to see each of your class submissions, and the fact that you are moving on to personal things rather than just schoolwork also says a lot (at least to me, if an artists is using their newly acquired skills to draw for themselves, this means that they are really mastering the process and enjoying themselves ^^ )

Heheh, that fashion show ...

Thanks for the support, Norroen! Painting is such a different thought process for me (other than line drawing) that I find it very difficult. I'm happy people like what I've managed to create so far though.

I may still be awkward at roleplaying, but my Dunmer was very impressed.

You are very welcome! It's really cool that you are trying out other art types. ^^ I've been thrilled to follow your progress.

This looks really great. I love the decreasing amount of detail as you draw back from the face; it looks more simple, but is plenty defined to know what you're looking at, and giving most attention to the facial features. Good luck learning to paint, seems like you're definitely on the right track, ha ha.

"...bear with me as I learn to paint."

I can barely bear with the fact you're this amazing. Omg, keep up the fantastic work!

May I ask you though, what program you use and the brushes?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SlayerSyrena In reply to RoslynnSommers [2015-05-26 22:28:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, Ros! Your comment is so encouraging!

I use Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 and I just recently 'cleaned house' of my Photoshop brushes (I used to have 200+, it was very confusing). Now the only brushes I use are the brushes that initially came with Photoshop along with my Instructor, Jeremy Fenske's brushes (the same ones he uses for his Elder Scrolls concept work. He was kind enough to share them with his students).

Dwaaa!!! Your artwork is the encouraging one. It's so amazing, I want to be like you one day.
Btw, how long does it normally take you to complete a picture like this one?

That's a lot of brushes lol.
You must be so thrilled to be working under him. That's absolutely amazing and it must be so exciting! I'm excited for you. Keep up the amazing work.

You're making me blush! I love your art too, especially your more complex illustrations (with two or more figures and those lovely backgrounds).

How long did this one take, hrmmm ... I got my coffee and worked on it for, I believe, about 3-4 hours. That's just a guesstimate though (as I lose track of time when working on art).

RoslynnSommers In reply to SlayerSyrena [2015-05-27 03:26:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh bah! I wish I could make work like yours, then I'll say my life is complete.
It's really interesting to see these works from you, it incredible to see all the stuff you're capable of making. That goes for all the incredible artists on here, y'know?Β I especially love when artists are multifaceted like yourself, they're always surprising. It's like a play or story when they throw a twist at the viewer. It's exciting lol.

That seems like really good timing actually. (And I totally get you lol, it's weird how time flies when you're doing something you enjoy).

Again, keep up the amazing work, I can't wait to see how you progress through your classes. You must be making your instructor very proud.
