Description
The Tayrona National Park in the north of Colombia is one of the most visited in the country. It combines beautiful jungle, pristine beaches and culture. In the jungle or along the beaches, volcanic rocks can be found, some can be gigantic in size. The name Tayrona comes originally from the Tairona people, a indiginous group living in the area before the arrival of the Spanish. In the 16th century they were forced to move higher up in the mountains due to confrontations with the occupier. The latest years the Tairona people are coming back to their original grounds, usually to arrange boat trips and sell arts and crafts to visitors.
