"This is just so hard." Erica tugged at her hair in frustration. She was the newest recruit of Take Down, a mercenary outfit comprised of people with powers. Her own power was the ability to manipulate emotions. She couldn't read minds directly, but she could sense feelings, even unconscious ones. With effort she could subvert someone's feelings and stir the kettle of their mind's thoughts into a frenzy. She could even overload someone's consciousness with an intense surge. The resulting shock would effectively shut them down into a temporary catatonic state. Today she was learning a new technique by which she induced sleep by pacifying a person's emotional state into a torpid paralysis. This was giving her difficulty as it required herself to be in a serene state free of distractions.
