Also, this bio is probably going to be updated a lot after a while, as I'm writing this being terribly hungover, omg. Somehow a drink or two I went to have with my new colleagues, just to be a little social (it's a giant team with 3 departments, and I'm not really used to giant teams...So the past month has been stressful to me getting adapted ;-; ) went wrong. A drink or two rapidly changed into us paying a visit to one of our new clients. We had a little bit too much fun there, and I wonder if they've started doubting our professionalism yet. xD We were given a total VIP treatment there, a lot of booze and food on the house, and, unfortunately, got involved with actual customers. I mean it's a very long story and it's the most absurd thing I have ever witnessed, but I will forever remember how an old man in his 70s, who's got into a quarrel with our 20 years old designer, physically dropped his pants in the middle of a street.

BUT this is not a place for this, so if you want details of that story HMU. xD; The journey ended with five of us at our boss's brother's, who's head of one of the departments, house. A lot of music and booze and very deep talks happened there. A lot of headache is happening today. I got home around 4:30 in the morning. xD

The type who literally looks like she's been born to be a dull housewife, a path she has merrily taken for a long while. Claudia has light brown hair with a tint of redness in it, and light brown eyes.

About the Character

Personality:
Claudia is quite simple: fast to get mad, fast to forgive. Yet, she has a bit of a dominating character, often expressed through her fierceness and occasional aggression. Claudia takes no offence from anyone and has no issue punching someone in a face if they tick her off or show disrespect. It has always been a trouble when she served in military for, as it's known, people would often bad mouth soldiers, especially Garrison who were notorious to slack off and spend their days doing nothing. Despite her harshness, Claudia is not a bad person. She cares deeply for people around her and is stupidly loyal to them until the very end. She might not be the best at expressing her affection, it often being taken for hostility, but people that know her had long learned to appreciate the awkward attempts of hers to show softness underneath the hard shell. It is rare to see Claudia mellow down, it's difficult to imagine her ever being vulnerable, as she always keeps that side of hers hidden from anyone but the closest people. However, once she lets someone inside, Claudia might reveal herself as a weak woman who desperately wants to be protected and cared for, not an independent hot head with a heart of stone.

The most annoying habit of Claudia is commenting on what others say. It is nearly unbearable to be near her when someone is giving a speech, because the woman is likely to voice her opinion over every sentence, regardless if someone is listening or not.

Whenever she gets serious, Claudia tends to adopt a very piercing look - that's when people know she's not joking a slightest bit. She often creates an impression of not paying attention, because throughout longer conversations she tends to constantly fiddle with something;

Different people view Claudia in different light. There are people who are genuinely scared of her, because this woman is no lady at all and can sometimes pick a fight just because she thought someone gave her a dodgy look. Some dislike her for she seems absolutely indifferent to anything after tragedy in her family - others, on the other hand, pity her for that. Those who are close to her, actually value Claudia a lot as they know she has their back no matter what and would always sacrifice for them.

Hannes - The two met when Claudia was 5 years old, and Hannes, who is a decade older, has just joined the military. Being a whole lot friendlier as a kid, Claudia barely ever missed a chance to chat up the soldiers on a street, making her quite liked by the Garrison and Military Police. Often she would spend her free time with soldiers instead of playing with kids her age - since Claudia was quite independent and not too annoying, usually soldiers didn't mind her company too much and would keep an eye on her. Of course, she did not wait long before getting to know newbies, one of who was 15 years old Hannes. At first he would shun her away, seeing himself as a serious adult, and adults did not deal with brats - but noticing his seniors were fond of the girl, Hannes eventually followed their example. The two became quite good friends and remained that for years. Only when Claudia was 12, things were starting to get odd. She became a cadet, something Hannes strongly opposed. She was not doing too well, and he kept on urging her to leave while she can. Based on that, the duo had a massive argument, as Claudia would hear none of that and would not have him teach her life. Hannes, being angry, called her an irresponsible brat and blurted out he wouldn't know how to live if she was eaten by a titan. This, to his own surprise, shut Claudia up at once. Although she did not leave as he insisted, from that very point their relationship has changed fundamentally. Of course, any kind of relationship between them would be absolutely unacceptable due to an age difference, and both struggled to accept the long time friendship developing into something bigger. For a time they would even avoid each other.

When Claudia first learned about titans, already being 13, she was deeply shaken. That day she found Hannes and asked him to take a walk with her for she needed to take her mind off things. She asked him then if he has ever seen a titan before, and he confessed he hasn't, to which Claudia replied she is scared of them from a mere description and hopes to never see them live. She then also referred to the argument they've had a year prior, saying she would also be lost had he ever died. Claudia then took Hannes by the hand and asked him to promise he will never get himself eaten. Startled by such boldness yet knowing in Claudia's book this somewhat of an attack was actually a sign of affection, he made the promise, sealing it up with a kiss.

For obvious reasons their relationship remained secret for three years, and in public they would never treat each other any differently before. Since they were known to be lifetime friends and very close, it wasn't quite a challenge nor anyone would see anything bad in frequent physical contact. So, because of that it was a massive shock to everyone when at the age of 16, aka of legal age, Claudia announced she's marrying Hannes. It was a big uproar and many fights within the family, but in the end everyone just had to accept it.

Hange Zoe - The two met only after Eren has joined Survey Corps, but for a long time there was zero contact between them as they've barely ever crossed paths. However, when Garrison started working closely with the Survey Corps, Hange and Claudia got to know each other better and, to everyone's surprise, got along very well. They would often hang out together off duty and would sometimes share a drink. Although very different personality wise, Hange and Claudia became what you could call best friends, and Hannes saw this odd friendship as a kind of relief since Claudia had been so caught up in family life and work she's barely ever spoke to other people. After the Uprising, Hange assumed Claudia might leave military for good, but instead she requests to be taken into Survey Corps. At first Hange was very against it, but Claudia made a point she is the person who's lost everything but her life, thus her place is on the battleground. She made a dark addition of it will shorten her days of suffering, but Hange pretended not to hear that part. After some consideration, Hange granted Claudia's wish.

Eren Yeager - Being close friends with the Yeager family, Claudia knew Eren since he was born and watched him grow. She fully understood why, after the fall of Wall Maria, Hannes was so protective about him and fully supported that. She is fond of Eren and was on his side the entire time, although not really playing an active role in it. After Hannes' death, she basically takes over his mission to protect Eren no matter what, although is clearly much less passionate due to personal losses strongly related to Eren and major inability to express affection clearly. However, it is small things such as nudging Hange to release Eren from the cell after the attack on Marley that indicate she is not indifferent to him. You could describe her approach as caring from a distance, and Eren has acknowledged that. He knows Claudia does care for him quite a bit and feels guilty her family has been annihilated because of him.

Mikasa Ackerman - Since both share hot headedness and harshness, Mikasa and Claudia are on very neutral terms. Had Claudia been around same age or a bit less of a familiar face, there would be few severe clashes between them. However, similarly to Eren, Claudia has been around when Mikasa has been growing up, so there is some kind of fondness based on that which is what prevents the two from having open fights. They do occasionally exchange some passively aggressive comments, but it doesn't get further as both are keen on letting it slip due to a strong bond.

Levi Ackerman - Levi finds Claudia incredibly annoying, stupid and unreasonable. His major problem is that she'd forever interrupt his speeches with her comments, and the general habit of acting stupidly because of getting mad. Since Levi is not short of insults, he had bitterly learned Claudia doesn't give a flying heck of who he is, and depending on severity of the insult will either shoot him back with something rude or physically assault him. The two have gotten into physical fights on more than few occasions. As long as he's not bothering her, Levi doesn't bother Claudia a slightest bit. However, since she irks him out with no end, he can't really resist from throwing something snarky her way. And, as mentioned above, Claudia is the type of a person that won't take any insult from anyone. Ever.

Armin Arlert - Armin is Claudia's favorite out of the trio Hannes was so fond and protective of. After the Uprising, she grew even fonder of him as he would remind Claudia of her son, thus while she is not known to be show clear fondness to Mikasa or Eren, she tends to loosen up a bit with Armin. He finds it a little disturbing, but simply takes it and does his best to appreciate it.

Connie Springer - The two maintain no hard feelings towards each other. Claudia sees Connie as a mere comrade, although Connie is a little bit scared of Claudia at times, especially seeing how she wouldn't even try to resist punching Levi whenever she felt like she needed to. Although there is no firm friendship between them, they fully trust each other in the battle.

Sasha Blouse -Sasha has always been freaking terrified of Claudia but in the same time she loved her to bits for her cooking skills. Although Claudia never had strong bonds with Sasha, she certainly had some fondness to the ever hungry girl as it would give her an excuse to cook, something she has not been doing much since the death of her family. Despite not being particularly close, Sasha's death has strongly affected Claudia, for the first time allowing her new team mates to learn she, despite harshness and sometimes hostility, does genuinely care of them all, not just Eren, Armin and Mikasa.

Zeke Yeager - Zeke is one person Сlaudia openly hates and has every reason to. She is not convinced by him and strongly opposes allying with him, especially due the massacre he caused. She made it very clear to Zeke he better avoid meeting her with no one around as she won't be responsible for what she may do to him. Also, Claudia did explain where does this hatred come from. Zeke can scarcely blame her for the hatred towards himself and does feel guilty for his actions, thus he takes everything Claudia throws at him. Although she has not caused him any physical harm yet, mainly due to being held back. Last time she tried to assault him, Hange had no other choice but to lock her out for few days. (Read history to learn why she hates Zeke so much.)

Jean Kirsten - Jean admires Claudia for being true to herself and because she has no fear in punching Levi. He does view her a bit like a teacher figure for she has more than enough of experience in very different fields, but knowing how easily she can get triggered he never asks anything. Claudia has some fondness towards Jean as well, similarly to himself admiring the young man for being able to accept himself the way he is.

The Character’s Familial/Biographical Information

Familial Background:
Claudia's parents, Amalie and Albin Blacher, died during the fall of Wall Maria. Her husband, Hannes, has been killed by the Smiling Titan, when he had carelessly attacked it to avenge Carla Yeager. Elias, son of Claudia and Hannes, has been killed by one of Zeke's rocks.

Character Background:
Claudia was the only child of a very basic family. Her mother was a cleaner and her father was running a small vegetable store at the market to bring food upon their table. Since both of her parents worked hard to survive and to raise her, Claudia was alone majority of time - not a thing a highly social child was keen on. For that reason she has developed an habit of talking to strangers, mostly military people who are at the same spot every now and then. It did not take long for soldiers to grow fond of a little girl and often they would be doing more babysitting than her parents. Constantly being surrounded by adults, mostly drinking men, Claudia soon adopted their harsh manners, a trait that became the strongest in her throughout the life. As a gratitude for constantly keeping eye on her, Claudia's parents would sometimes give military men free vegetables for her father's shop and generally maintained rather warm relationships.

Being 5 years old she had befriended a new recruit of Garrison, Hannes, whom Claudia ended up marrying after coming to an age. Mostly due to spending her entire childhood with military people, she, unlike most civilians, never experienced any hatred towards them. Since Claudia was lucky to always deal with nice ones, she lived with an impression all the soldiers are nice people, which became her inspiration to join military at the age of 12. Such decision caused a big argument between and her best friend Hannes, although in the course of the said argument it became clear their friendship is on the verge of developing into something bigger.

Claudia was not a good student. She was not even average - a little below that. However it did not matter to her much as she was not interested to be in top ten and knew for a fact it's Garrison she's aiming for. When Hannes heard about that, his distress has tripled. During her training Claudia learned how mistaken she was to assume every soldier was a nice person, and it was a harsh reality slap into her face and basically a ruined childhood. Throughout training she would be punished multiple times for starting fights, yet it has never really stopped her.

There were times when Claudia would reconsider Hannes' words about leaving due to a despair over her failures, but she carried on as she would hate to admit to him he was right. Plus, she though backing up now would be the clearest sign of weakness, and she could not afford that. Overall, in three years time, being 15, Claudia was officially accepted as a recruit and, as she planned, chose Garrison.

At that point she and Hannes have already been in a relationship no one has suspected, and next year, once Claudia got of age, the couple got married. Everything was going perfect: days in Garrison were as chill as they've been when she was a child, and Claudia hadn't got a single regret. She was happy with her life and basically lived a dream.

The dream has not lasted long and the epidemic of a plague has begun. People were dying fast and in a matter of time Claudia got infected as well. Three days of heavy fever got her into a state where she would hallucinate and mutter random things, and at that point everyone thought she was a goner. However, Grisha Yeager has then developed a vaccine, and Claudia was among the first people to get an injection. It literally dragged her out from the other world, making Hannes a close friend of the Yeager family. Due to her illness, Claudia had to leave military and has been advised not to go back anytime soon.

They have attended the Grisha's wedding together and both families remained close until the very end. Soon after Eren was born, Claudia has returned to military, but it was not bound to last long as after a year she's learned she was pregnant. Birth of their son, Elias, forced Claudia to leave military once again.

Fall of Shiganshina arc

During the fall of Shiganshina Claudia was not in military. After birth of Elias and her second leave, she decided not to return to it at all. When the Colossus Titan made an appearance, she and Elias were home and fled straight away to the gates. Being aware how do things work, she knew better not to go looking for Hannes and understood he was not foolish enough to come check on them. The only thing they had left is to hope and pray to be reunited.

She wasn't completely correct. Hannes did try to get home before anything, but was stopped by Armin Arlert, who said Mikasa and Eren ran off to their house. It was a tough decision, but he knew Claudia would get mad had she learned he abandoned his duty, and so he chose Mikasa and Eren over his own family.

Luckily for them and thankfully to quick reaction of Claudia, she and Elias were among the first people who got on the ship. At that point they didn't know if Hannes was alive or not, and the anxiety was doing Claudia's head in, no less than the fact she's seen titans for the first time and they appeared to be three times everything she thought they were. While on the ship and crippled by worry and fear, she recalled that day ten years ago, when Hannes promised not to get eaten. Although it was just a foolish thing back then, the memory made her calm down and soon enough Hannes returned with Mikasa and Eren. He managed to get a glimpse of Claudia and Elias aboard, but did not rush towards them, which made Claudia feel even more uneasy - Hannes did look as shocked as they all were, but there was something else.

Only later, when they were at Trost District and managed to reunite, she's learned from Hannes he failed to save Carla because he got terrified of the titan.

104th Training Corps arc

In the course of five years, to avoid being sent to "reclaim wall Maria", Claudia ended up rejoining military. Her passion for it was completely gone and she was very against going back, but this once Hannes was insisting for her to do so. For the sake of Elias and her own safety, she returned into Garrison. While she no longer had motivation to do anything titans related, Hannes worked hard and eventually became a captain. Partly, he did that not just to redeem his fault to Carla, but to ease things for Claudia, knowing how difficult it was for her to put the uniform on once again.

Their son, Elias, became a cadet at the age of 12. To Claudia's biggest horror, he was interested in joining Survey Corps, claiming Garrison was for the cowards (and earning himself a slap). By the time Eren and his friends became recruits, Elias was on his second year of training.

Battle of Trost District arc

When the titans barge in for the second time, Claudia, deeply traumatized by what happened five years ago, finds herself strangely calm. Under Hannes' command, she takes her position on wall Rose, ready to launch an attack in case the Colossus Titan reappears. The only thing troubling Claudia is Elias - she fears the boy might be stupid enough to insist on fighting when he has not even finished his training yet. To keep the thoughts away she concentrated on work.

From the position she was at, she could clearly see Hannes, so she was not too worried about him. Although cannons were never her favourite, Claudia carried on shooting them after the signal.

Clash of the Titans arc

Being on Hannes unit, Claudia went patrolling alongside to him after a new breach has been reported. When Colossus Titan fell on the Armour Titan and they kidnapped Eren, Claudia was among those who's got injured. Hannes mostly spent time taking her of her, but once Mikasa and Armin woke up, he left her to give them food and a motivation speech to raise their spirits.

As he managed snap them out from misery and despair, new operation plans had begun. Due to her injuries, Claudia could not go. Before they were to leave, however, she had a very bad gut feeling. She even attempted to talk Hannes out from riding, but both knew it was an absurd request he could not grant even if he wanted.

Claudia kissed him goodbye and begged him to be careful. She once again remembered the promise he made and brought that up in a subtle manner, asking Hannes if he remember what he promised her when they first kissed. Confused, Hannes scratched his head and shrugged, saying it was too long time ago to remember it, instantly filling Claudia's insides with lead.

After the mission, Eren personally delivered her the news of Hannes' death and how it happened. He blamed himself, but grieving Claudia embraced him instead and said the fault was not his, and she knew it was bound to happened. She confessed to Eren she knew Hannes will die when he said he could not remember a promised he had not once forgotten before.

The Uprising arc

Exact activities of Claudia during this period are not well known as she did not stand out much. After Hannes' death she remained in military and concentrated on their son Elias, was about to finish his training and become a full pledged soldier. It is only known that being somewhat protective over Eren and his friends, Claudia was staying in touch with the Survey Corps, mostly with her best friend Hange. Risking her life, she was also sharing every bit of information she could find.

Return to Shiganshina arc

Elias became a recruit right before the mission of reclaiming wall Maria and eagerly joined the Survey Corps without a second thought. When Claudia learned of what they were planning, she first tried to bring her son to senses, desperately insisting he had no idea what he was doing and a rookie like him had no chance. It proved to be being completely futile and Elias dismissed her words, then saying he knew everything he needed to and will most definitely not perish.

Claudia, who knew better than her son, changed the tactic. After learning there was no chance of changing Elias' mind, she went straight to Erwin and begged him to not to take Elias to the mission. Erwin declined her request, explaining they didn't know what awaits them at wall Maria and that they needed as many men as they could. He had also pointed out all the new recruits were coming and it would of been unfair to leave her son out.

Levi joined the conversation as well, with a claim Claudia had to let go off the fact her son is a soldier now. He rubbed in the fact Elias chose Survey Corps himself and pointed out her son, unlike Claudia, is not a coward. Already distressed and still deeply shaken by Hannes' death, she overreacted and sent a punch to Levi's face. Such unexpected reaction caught him off guard, this becoming one of the rare punches of Claudia that had actually reached him. Levi was about to hit back, but Erwin told him to stop. He then repeated to Claudia he could not dismiss Elias, but if it mattered, she could come with them instead. Claudia agreed.

As they rode out, Claudia made sure to stay close to her son and kept a close eye on him. Just like everyone, she was growing suspicious about no titans appearing.

After the wall has been sealed and the attack had begun, Erwin sent Elias along the other recruits to get the horses, whereas Claudia, who agreed to follow his orders, was to remain and fight.

However, when the beast titan made and appearance and the situation got beyond desperate, Erwin summoned the recruits to introduce a new plan - basically riding straight into the enemy. Claudia, who was fighting had no idea of the new plan nor the fact Elias was part of it.

Even when the recruits went towards the Beast Titan as a distraction allowing Levi to attack him, she had no idea one among those people was her son. Just like everyone, Elias was killed by one of the boulders thrown by Zeke.

She only learned the news when Floch Forster returned with dying Erwin and said he was the only survivor. Having not seen Elias for a while, feeling her throat go dry, she asked Floch if he knew her son. He had confirmed it, as well as the fact Elias was among the dead. After his words, Claudia lost consciousness.

Upon the return of the Survey Corps, Claudia was awake. She asked Hange if they could retrieve Elias' body, for she never had a chance to bury her husband, so she wants to at least bury her son.

Half of a year later, Claudia has once again gotten in touch with Hange, who was the commander of the Survey Corps and this once asked her if she could join the Survey Corps. Hange was very hesitant, especially because she was not too sure if Claudia was actually right in her mind. However, she was able to back up and explain her wish, claiming there was nothing but her life she can lose, and she would rather lose it for a good cause. Hange eventually gave in, allowing Claudia to join the Survey Corps.

Marley arc

Claudia solemnly serves as part of the Survey Corps. In the past years her attitude had changed quite a lot. Although still fierce and easily provoked, Claudia became even more unreachable than before. To everyone's surprise she appeared to be a much better fighter that it would have been expected, although she herself only shrugged and said it happens when you know there are no rules or restrains left and when you don't care anymore if you live or die.

During the invasion of Marley, she is part of the attacking force, living up to her new image of an indifferent yet very violent woman. However, when Sasha is announced dead, the mask vanishes quickly as Claudia breaks down on her knees and weeps. It shocks everyone no less than Sasha's death, as no one but Armin, Mikasa and Eren had ever assumed Claudia cared about them at all.

• Claudia is an avid reader. Not only she reads a lot, but she reads fast - it may look as if she's skimming through, but she gathers full information from what she's read;

• Sometimes when Hannes would return home drunk, she'd knock him out with a rolling pin and claim his head hurts this bad because of a hangover. She could never explain the lump;

• Despite very strongly different personalities, Hannes and Claudia barely ever fought, thus any bigger argument was memorable for they were rare;

Also, this bio is probably going to be updated a lot after a while, as I'm writing this being terribly hungover, omg. Somehow a drink or two I went to have with my new colleagues, just to be a little social (it's a giant team with 3 departments, and I'm not really used to giant teams...So the past month has been stressful to me getting adapted ;-; ) went wrong. A drink or two rapidly changed into us paying a visit to one of our new clients. We had a little bit too much fun there, and I wonder if they've started doubting our professionalism yet. xD We were given a total VIP treatment there, a lot of booze and food on the house, and, unfortunately, got involved with actual customers. I mean it's a very long story and it's the most absurd thing I have ever witnessed, but I will forever remember how an old man in his 70s, who's got into a quarrel with our 20 years old designer, physically dropped his pants in the middle of a street.

BUT this is not a place for this, so if you want details of that story HMU. xD; The journey ended with five of us at our boss's brother's, who's head of one of the departments, house. A lot of music and booze and very deep talks happened there. A lot of headache is happening today. I got home around 4:30 in the morning. xD

About the Character

Personality:
Claudia is quite simple: fast to get mad, fast to forgive. Yet, she has a bit of a dominating character, often expressed through her fierceness and occasional aggression. Claudia takes no offence from anyone and has no issue punching someone in a face if they tick her off or show disrespect. It has always been a trouble when she served in military for, as it's known, people would often bad mouth soldiers, especially Garrison who were notorious to slack off and spend their days doing nothing. Despite her harshness, Claudia is not a bad person. She cares deeply for people around her and is stupidly loyal to them until the very end. She might not be the best at expressing her affection, it often being taken for hostility, but people that know her had long learned to appreciate the awkward attempts of hers to show softness underneath the hard shell. It is rare to see Claudia mellow down, it's difficult to imagine her ever being vulnerable, as she always keeps that side of hers hidden from anyone but the closest people. However, once she lets someone inside, Claudia might reveal herself as a weak woman who desperately wants to be protected and cared for, not an independent hot head with a heart of stone.

Hannes - The two met when Claudia was 5 years old, and Hannes, who is a decade older, has just joined the military. Being a whole lot friendlier as a kid, Claudia barely ever missed a chance to chat up the soldiers on a street, making her quite liked by the Garrison and Military Police. Often she would spend her free time with soldiers instead of playing with kids her age - since Claudia was quite independent and not too annoying, usually soldiers didn't mind her company too much and would keep an eye on her. Of course, she did not wait long before getting to know newbies, one of who was 15 years old Hannes. At first he would shun her away, seeing himself as a serious adult, and adults did not deal with brats - but noticing his seniors were fond of the girl, Hannes eventually followed their example. The two became quite good friends and remained that for years. Only when Claudia was 12, things were starting to get odd. She became a cadet, something Hannes strongly opposed. She was not doing too well, and he kept on urging her to leave while she can. Based on that, the duo had a massive argument, as Claudia would hear none of that and would not have him teach her life. Hannes, being angry, called her an irresponsible brat and blurted out he wouldn't know how to live if she was eaten by a titan. This, to his own surprise, shut Claudia up at once. Although she did not leave as he insisted, from that very point their relationship has changed fundamentally. Of course, any kind of relationship between them would be absolutely unacceptable due to an age difference, and both struggled to accept the long time friendship developing into something bigger. For a time they would even avoid each other.

When Claudia first learned about titans, already being 13, she was deeply shaken. That day she found Hannes and asked him to take a walk with her for she needed to take her mind off things. She asked him then if he has ever seen a titan before, and he confessed he hasn't, to which Claudia replied she is scared of them from a mere description and hopes to never see them live. She then also referred to the argument they've had a year prior, saying she would also be lost had he ever died. Claudia then took Hannes by the hand and asked him to promise he will never get himself eaten. Startled by such boldness yet knowing in Claudia's book this somewhat of an attack was actually a sign of affection, he made the promise, sealing it up with a kiss.

For obvious reasons their relationship remained secret for three years, and in public they would never treat each other any differently before. Since they were known to be lifetime friends and very close, it wasn't quite a challenge nor anyone would see anything bad in frequent physical contact. So, because of that it was a massive shock to everyone when at the age of 16, aka of legal age, Claudia announced she's marrying Hannes. It was a big uproar and many fights within the family, but in the end everyone just had to accept it.

Hange Zoe - The two met only after Eren has joined Survey Corps, but for a long time there was zero contact between them as they've barely ever crossed paths. However, when Garrison started working closely with the Survey Corps, Hange and Claudia got to know each other better and, to everyone's surprise, got along very well. They would often hang out together off duty and would sometimes share a drink. Although very different personality wise, Hange and Claudia became what you could call best friends, and Hannes saw this odd friendship as a kind of relief since Claudia had been so caught up in family life and work she's barely ever spoke to other people. After the Uprising, Hange assumed Claudia might leave military for good, but instead she requests to be taken into Survey Corps. At first Hange was very against it, but Claudia made a point she is the person who's lost everything but her life, thus her place is on the battleground. She made a dark addition of it will shorten her days of suffering, but Hange pretended not to hear that part. After some consideration, Hange granted Claudia's wish.

Eren Yeager - Being close friends with the Yeager family, Claudia knew Eren since he was born and watched him grow. She fully understood why, after the fall of Wall Maria, Hannes was so protective about him and fully supported that. She is fond of Eren and was on his side the entire time, although not really playing an active role in it. After Hannes' death, she basically takes over his mission to protect Eren no matter what, although is clearly much less passionate due to personal losses strongly related to Eren and major inability to express affection clearly. However, it is small things such as nudging Hange to release Eren from the cell after the attack on Marley that indicate she is not indifferent to him. You could describe her approach as caring from a distance, and Eren has acknowledged that. He knows Claudia does care for him quite a bit and feels guilty her family has been annihilated because of him.

Mikasa Ackerman - Since both share hot headedness and harshness, Mikasa and Claudia are on very neutral terms. Had Claudia been around same age or a bit less of a familiar face, there would be few severe clashes between them. However, similarly to Eren, Claudia has been around when Mikasa has been growing up, so there is some kind of fondness based on that which is what prevents the two from having open fights. They do occasionally exchange some passively aggressive comments, but it doesn't get further as both are keen on letting it slip due to a strong bond.

Levi Ackerman - Levi finds Claudia incredibly annoying, stupid and unreasonable. His major problem is that she'd forever interrupt his speeches with her comments, and the general habit of acting stupidly because of getting mad. Since Levi is not short of insults, he had bitterly learned Claudia doesn't give a flying heck of who he is, and depending on severity of the insult will either shoot him back with something rude or physically assault him. The two have gotten into physical fights on more than few occasions. As long as he's not bothering her, Levi doesn't bother Claudia a slightest bit. However, since she irks him out with no end, he can't really resist from throwing something snarky her way. And, as mentioned above, Claudia is the type of a person that won't take any insult from anyone. Ever.

Armin Arlert - Armin is Claudia's favorite out of the trio Hannes was so fond and protective of. After the Uprising, she grew even fonder of him as he would remind Claudia of her son, thus while she is not known to be show clear fondness to Mikasa or Eren, she tends to loosen up a bit with Armin. He finds it a little disturbing, but simply takes it and does his best to appreciate it.

Connie Springer - The two maintain no hard feelings towards each other. Claudia sees Connie as a mere comrade, although Connie is a little bit scared of Claudia at times, especially seeing how she wouldn't even try to resist punching Levi whenever she felt like she needed to. Although there is no firm friendship between them, they fully trust each other in the battle.

Sasha Blouse -Sasha has always been freaking terrified of Claudia but in the same time she loved her to bits for her cooking skills. Although Claudia never had strong bonds with Sasha, she certainly had some fondness to the ever hungry girl as it would give her an excuse to cook, something she has not been doing much since the death of her family. Despite not being particularly close, Sasha's death has strongly affected Claudia, for the first time allowing her new team mates to learn she, despite harshness and sometimes hostility, does genuinely care of them all, not just Eren, Armin and Mikasa.

Zeke Yeager - Zeke is one person Сlaudia openly hates and has every reason to. She is not convinced by him and strongly opposes allying with him, especially due the massacre he caused. She made it very clear to Zeke he better avoid meeting her with no one around as she won't be responsible for what she may do to him. Also, Claudia did explain where does this hatred come from. Zeke can scarcely blame her for the hatred towards himself and does feel guilty for his actions, thus he takes everything Claudia throws at him. Although she has not caused him any physical harm yet, mainly due to being held back. Last time she tried to assault him, Hange had no other choice but to lock her out for few days. (Read history to learn why she hates Zeke so much.)

Jean Kirsten - Jean admires Claudia for being true to herself and because she has no fear in punching Levi. He does view her a bit like a teacher figure for she has more than enough of experience in very different fields, but knowing how easily she can get triggered he never asks anything. Claudia has some fondness towards Jean as well, similarly to himself admiring the young man for being able to accept himself the way he is.

Familial Background:
Claudia's parents, Amalie and Albin Blacher, died during the fall of Wall Maria. Her husband, Hannes, has been killed by the Smiling Titan, when he had carelessly attacked it to avenge Carla Yeager. Elias, son of Claudia and Hannes, has been killed by one of Zeke's rocks.

Character Background:
Claudia was the only child of a very basic family. Her mother was a cleaner and her father was running a small vegetable store at the market to bring food upon their table. Since both of her parents worked hard to survive and to raise her, Claudia was alone majority of time - not a thing a highly social child was keen on. For that reason she has developed an habit of talking to strangers, mostly military people who are at the same spot every now and then. It did not take long for soldiers to grow fond of a little girl and often they would be doing more babysitting than her parents. Constantly being surrounded by adults, mostly drinking men, Claudia soon adopted their harsh manners, a trait that became the strongest in her throughout the life. As a gratitude for constantly keeping eye on her, Claudia's parents would sometimes give military men free vegetables for her father's shop and generally maintained rather warm relationships.

Being 5 years old she had befriended a new recruit of Garrison, Hannes, whom Claudia ended up marrying after coming to an age. Mostly due to spending her entire childhood with military people, she, unlike most civilians, never experienced any hatred towards them. Since Claudia was lucky to always deal with nice ones, she lived with an impression all the soldiers are nice people, which became her inspiration to join military at the age of 12. Such decision caused a big argument between and her best friend Hannes, although in the course of the said argument it became clear their friendship is on the verge of developing into something bigger.

Claudia was not a good student. She was not even average - a little below that. However it did not matter to her much as she was not interested to be in top ten and knew for a fact it's Garrison she's aiming for. When Hannes heard about that, his distress has tripled. During her training Claudia learned how mistaken she was to assume every soldier was a nice person, and it was a harsh reality slap into her face and basically a ruined childhood. Throughout training she would be punished multiple times for starting fights, yet it has never really stopped her.

There were times when Claudia would reconsider Hannes' words about leaving due to a despair over her failures, but she carried on as she would hate to admit to him he was right. Plus, she though backing up now would be the clearest sign of weakness, and she could not afford that. Overall, in three years time, being 15, Claudia was officially accepted as a recruit and, as she planned, chose Garrison.

At that point she and Hannes have already been in a relationship no one has suspected, and next year, once Claudia got of age, the couple got married. Everything was going perfect: days in Garrison were as chill as they've been when she was a child, and Claudia hadn't got a single regret. She was happy with her life and basically lived a dream.

The dream has not lasted long and the epidemic of a plague has begun. People were dying fast and in a matter of time Claudia got infected as well. Three days of heavy fever got her into a state where she would hallucinate and mutter random things, and at that point everyone thought she was a goner. However, Grisha Yeager has then developed a vaccine, and Claudia was among the first people to get an injection. It literally dragged her out from the other world, making Hannes a close friend of the Yeager family. Due to her illness, Claudia had to leave military and has been advised not to go back anytime soon.

They have attended the Grisha's wedding together and both families remained close until the very end. Soon after Eren was born, Claudia has returned to military, but it was not bound to last long as after a year she's learned she was pregnant. Birth of their son, Elias, forced Claudia to leave military once again.

Fall of Shiganshina arc

During the fall of Shiganshina Claudia was not in military. After birth of Elias and her second leave, she decided not to return to it at all. When the Colossus Titan made an appearance, she and Elias were home and fled straight away to the gates. Being aware how do things work, she knew better not to go looking for Hannes and understood he was not foolish enough to come check on them. The only thing they had left is to hope and pray to be reunited.

She wasn't completely correct. Hannes did try to get home before anything, but was stopped by Armin Arlert, who said Mikasa and Eren ran off to their house. It was a tough decision, but he knew Claudia would get mad had she learned he abandoned his duty, and so he chose Mikasa and Eren over his own family.

Luckily for them and thankfully to quick reaction of Claudia, she and Elias were among the first people who got on the ship. At that point they didn't know if Hannes was alive or not, and the anxiety was doing Claudia's head in, no less than the fact she's seen titans for the first time and they appeared to be three times everything she thought they were. While on the ship and crippled by worry and fear, she recalled that day ten years ago, when Hannes promised not to get eaten. Although it was just a foolish thing back then, the memory made her calm down and soon enough Hannes returned with Mikasa and Eren. He managed to get a glimpse of Claudia and Elias aboard, but did not rush towards them, which made Claudia feel even more uneasy - Hannes did look as shocked as they all were, but there was something else.

Only later, when they were at Trost District and managed to reunite, she's learned from Hannes he failed to save Carla because he got terrified of the titan.

104th Training Corps arc

In the course of five years, to avoid being sent to "reclaim wall Maria", Claudia ended up rejoining military. Her passion for it was completely gone and she was very against going back, but this once Hannes was insisting for her to do so. For the sake of Elias and her own safety, she returned into Garrison. While she no longer had motivation to do anything titans related, Hannes worked hard and eventually became a captain. Partly, he did that not just to redeem his fault to Carla, but to ease things for Claudia, knowing how difficult it was for her to put the uniform on once again.

Their son, Elias, became a cadet at the age of 12. To Claudia's biggest horror, he was interested in joining Survey Corps, claiming Garrison was for the cowards (and earning himself a slap). By the time Eren and his friends became recruits, Elias was on his second year of training.

Battle of Trost District arc

When the titans barge in for the second time, Claudia, deeply traumatized by what happened five years ago, finds herself strangely calm. Under Hannes' command, she takes her position on wall Rose, ready to launch an attack in case the Colossus Titan reappears. The only thing troubling Claudia is Elias - she fears the boy might be stupid enough to insist on fighting when he has not even finished his training yet. To keep the thoughts away she concentrated on work.

From the position she was at, she could clearly see Hannes, so she was not too worried about him. Although cannons were never her favourite, Claudia carried on shooting them after the signal.

Clash of the Titans arc

Being on Hannes unit, Claudia went patrolling alongside to him after a new breach has been reported. When Colossus Titan fell on the Armour Titan and they kidnapped Eren, Claudia was among those who's got injured. Hannes mostly spent time taking her of her, but once Mikasa and Armin woke up, he left her to give them food and a motivation speech to raise their spirits.

As he managed snap them out from misery and despair, new operation plans had begun. Due to her injuries, Claudia could not go. Before they were to leave, however, she had a very bad gut feeling. She even attempted to talk Hannes out from riding, but both knew it was an absurd request he could not grant even if he wanted.

Claudia kissed him goodbye and begged him to be careful. She once again remembered the promise he made and brought that up in a subtle manner, asking Hannes if he remember what he promised her when they first kissed. Confused, Hannes scratched his head and shrugged, saying it was too long time ago to remember it, instantly filling Claudia's insides with lead.

After the mission, Eren personally delivered her the news of Hannes' death and how it happened. He blamed himself, but grieving Claudia embraced him instead and said the fault was not his, and she knew it was bound to happened. She confessed to Eren she knew Hannes will die when he said he could not remember a promised he had not once forgotten before.

The Uprising arc

Exact activities of Claudia during this period are not well known as she did not stand out much. After Hannes' death she remained in military and concentrated on their son Elias, was about to finish his training and become a full pledged soldier. It is only known that being somewhat protective over Eren and his friends, Claudia was staying in touch with the Survey Corps, mostly with her best friend Hange. Risking her life, she was also sharing every bit of information she could find.

Return to Shiganshina arc

Elias became a recruit right before the mission of reclaiming wall Maria and eagerly joined the Survey Corps without a second thought. When Claudia learned of what they were planning, she first tried to bring her son to senses, desperately insisting he had no idea what he was doing and a rookie like him had no chance. It proved to be being completely futile and Elias dismissed her words, then saying he knew everything he needed to and will most definitely not perish.

Claudia, who knew better than her son, changed the tactic. After learning there was no chance of changing Elias' mind, she went straight to Erwin and begged him to not to take Elias to the mission. Erwin declined her request, explaining they didn't know what awaits them at wall Maria and that they needed as many men as they could. He had also pointed out all the new recruits were coming and it would of been unfair to leave her son out.

Levi joined the conversation as well, with a claim Claudia had to let go off the fact her son is a soldier now. He rubbed in the fact Elias chose Survey Corps himself and pointed out her son, unlike Claudia, is not a coward. Already distressed and still deeply shaken by Hannes' death, she overreacted and sent a punch to Levi's face. Such unexpected reaction caught him off guard, this becoming one of the rare punches of Claudia that had actually reached him. Levi was about to hit back, but Erwin told him to stop. He then repeated to Claudia he could not dismiss Elias, but if it mattered, she could come with them instead. Claudia agreed.

As they rode out, Claudia made sure to stay close to her son and kept a close eye on him. Just like everyone, she was growing suspicious about no titans appearing.

After the wall has been sealed and the attack had begun, Erwin sent Elias along the other recruits to get the horses, whereas Claudia, who agreed to follow his orders, was to remain and fight.

However, when the beast titan made and appearance and the situation got beyond desperate, Erwin summoned the recruits to introduce a new plan - basically riding straight into the enemy. Claudia, who was fighting had no idea of the new plan nor the fact Elias was part of it.

Even when the recruits went towards the Beast Titan as a distraction allowing Levi to attack him, she had no idea one among those people was her son. Just like everyone, Elias was killed by one of the boulders thrown by Zeke.

She only learned the news when Floch Forster returned with dying Erwin and said he was the only survivor. Having not seen Elias for a while, feeling her throat go dry, she asked Floch if he knew her son. He had confirmed it, as well as the fact Elias was among the dead. After his words, Claudia lost consciousness.

Upon the return of the Survey Corps, Claudia was awake. She asked Hange if they could retrieve Elias' body, for she never had a chance to bury her husband, so she wants to at least bury her son.

Half of a year later, Claudia has once again gotten in touch with Hange, who was the commander of the Survey Corps and this once asked her if she could join the Survey Corps. Hange was very hesitant, especially because she was not too sure if Claudia was actually right in her mind. However, she was able to back up and explain her wish, claiming there was nothing but her life she can lose, and she would rather lose it for a good cause. Hange eventually gave in, allowing Claudia to join the Survey Corps.

Marley arc

Claudia solemnly serves as part of the Survey Corps. In the past years her attitude had changed quite a lot. Although still fierce and easily provoked, Claudia became even more unreachable than before. To everyone's surprise she appeared to be a much better fighter that it would have been expected, although she herself only shrugged and said it happens when you know there are no rules or restrains left and when you don't care anymore if you live or die.

During the invasion of Marley, she is part of the attacking force, living up to her new image of an indifferent yet very violent woman. However, when Sasha is announced dead, the mask vanishes quickly as Claudia breaks down on her knees and weeps. It shocks everyone no less than Sasha's death, as no one but Armin, Mikasa and Eren had ever assumed Claudia cared about them at all.

After their return and Eren's imprisonment, she is the person who nudges Hange to release Eren, but as Hange learns that might not be a good idea.

Trivia:

• Claudia is an avid reader. Not only she reads a lot, but she reads fast - it may look as if she's skimming through, but she gathers full information from what she's read;

• Sometimes when Hannes would return home drunk, she'd knock him out with a rolling pin and claim his head hurts this bad because of a hangover. She could never explain the lump;

• Despite very strongly different personalities, Hannes and Claudia barely ever fought, thus any bigger argument was memorable for they were rare;

• Once, Claudia and Hange got carried away while having a girly talk with a glass of wine, and the glass turned into several bottles. Two drunk ladies nearly set out beyond the wall, because they decided it was a perfect time to set out and catch few titans for Hange to research. Their plan has failed for both got entangled in their omni-directional mobility gears while trying to get them on;

• Claudia never wanted to have children and Elias was not planned. But once he was born she became an overly protective mom and now would fight not just those who are mean to her, but those mean to her son. Hannes had to physically restrain her several times as she was dead serious about going after some kids that pushed Elias and made him scrap his knees.
