GIANT FILE ALERT: DOWNLOAD FOR FULL QUALITY
I swear the only good thing about revamping all those reference sheets is seeing how much I have improved. Really, at the time I was making the first sheet for Risa, I felt as if Da Vinci cries in afterlife over my mastery. Now I think he cries over how fucking bad it was. Here, have a look -
Ok I shut up here because I'm about to rewrite her bio and cringe forever over my poor, under-developed writing skills at that time. Again, I felt all high and mighty back then because duh, I was on my way to graduate from journalism, so naturally I was a top writer. EXCEPT I ABSOLUTELY WAS FUCKING NOT.
P.s. Picture on the right is her in cosplay. Because I can.

Unique Physical Traits: Heterochromia (different eyes);

Personality: Risa is a friendly and a rather outgoing individual, never lacking a smile over her face. However, despite being a totally positive miss sunshine, she is also a massive weirdo with a strong passion to anime, cosplaying and general otaku culture. These quirks are accompanied by two traits: one rather common to see in people with similar interests, and other is barely seen within hardcore nerds Risa is categorized as. Her mental abilities surpass mediocre people, earning her a title of a genius she usually chooses to overlook - despite that, however, the woman on most occasions acts irrational for the sake of covering the superior intellect. Unlike other geeks, the other thing Risa excels in are sports. Ever since being young she was caught up in many school clubs, as well as heading the baseball club herself - those activities were so captivating and dear to Risa that even after her graduation she refused to bid them a farewell, becoming a PE teacher. Her ultimate soft spot are all-things-cute, often leading to comical dilemmas, such as being unable to eat a cupcake she craves for it is too cute. At time Risa may appear stalkerish and creepy, which is influenced by her obsessions with idols: once she fancies someone, she ignores all the boundaries and shamelessly invite their privacy on every occasion up until she herself gets bored. Despite her behaviour being rather immoral, Risa is not vexatious nor ill-willed: overall she is a kinda and caring woman, simply riddled with odd traits. Having no triggers in a form of cute things or people she idolizes, Risa presents herself as a decent and mature individual.

♦Shaman & Mochirei info♦
Synch rate: 83%
Relationship:
The partners get along well and their relationship can be described as friendship, although there is a strong sense of dominance coming from Rikiya's side. On the other hand, such setting takes place only due to Risa's patience and lenience when it comes to kids. When circumstances require, she will give her Mochirei a firm reminder who is the adult, and at those times usually rebellious and provocative spirit will not dare disobeying.
First Met:
Having a vague understanding as for what kind of partner she sought for, Risa had little success finding a spirit companion. In her search she would frequent cemeteries and places urban legends called haunted, but no Mochirei of her dreams has appeared. However, once Risa overheard her students exchanging creepy stories and the particular one caught her attention, about a ghost haunting a school in a nearby prefecture. It was described as a particularly mischievous poltergeist, terrorizing girls at the changing rooms at the broad light, therefore the area was off limits once the sun has set. In Risa's mind she's created a mental image of a perverted young man, possibly a former a gang leader, and a romance anime scenario played out in her head, featuring herself and the bad boy falling in love yet unable to be together. With her interest piqued to no end and blowing smoke through her nose, Risa wasted no time to rush and meet her long-dead prince charming. After spending few days investigating the school and its surroundings, Risa eventually sneaked in for what she expected to be the beginning of a tragic love story between a human and a spirit...Just to have her dreams fully shattered.
The poltergeist in question was not a cool guy she was looking forward to find: in fact, it was not a male at all. Instead of a gangster, Risa was presented with a spirit of a young girl that found pleasure in smashing things with a club resembling her in size. Despite the find not being what she expected, the Shaman felt no disappointment at all: it was quite the opposite. Risa was taken aback by how cute the girl spirit was, comparing her to a live moe anime character and with that left her hideout at once, frightening the ghost with not just a sudden appearance but with a general weirdo vibe as she hastily attempted introducing herself. However, as she offered companionship, Rikiya did not give it a second thought and declined without hearing Risa out completely, claiming she would never leave a place filled with drama and gossips for some boring competition. With that, Risa landed her trump card and revealed herself being a teacher, therefore offering Rikiya an opportunity to haunt each location of the school she worked at in exchange of their partnership. This worked like a spell, and Rikiya, objecting the collaboration seconds ago, was fully drawn in.

♦Shamanic Spells♦
This shamanic technique enables the shaman to integrate spirits into their body, forming a "unity" of both, their spirit and that of the ghost. The shaman enters a special trance which enables them to synchronize their spirit with that of the ghost, allowing the ghost to possess their body and enabling the ghost to interact with the physical world. Furthermore, once integrated, the shaman takes on the knowledge & wisdom of the ghost as well as their personality.
Just like many other shamans, Risa strongly depends on this technique. When Rikiya merges with The Toothpick, purple stripes of the bat spread outwards, forming sharp blades.
This technique allowed Risa to identify fellow shamans prior to the tournament. Although this skill became completely useless once the official competition has begun and Oracle Bells became the identification sign of the participants, it helped Risa to avoid unnecessary fights before the official start. While the technique is not this rare and possessed by many, for a long time Risa believed it was an Aki clan exclusive.
Unlike Shikibetsu, this is an actual Aki clan exclusive technique, only available for the members of the clan. The user needs to draw their blood, then accommodating spirits of the nature within it. At that stage, the shaman can shape the spirit-infested blood into a shape of their desire. The dangerous part is a chance of having unauthorised spirits possessing blood cells that are still within the body. Not only it leads to many health related concerns and causes many physical complications, but there is only one way of getting rid of those: a painful procedure that can only be executed by the elders of Aki clan.
Many would think the small skull charm on Risa's bat is a mere accessory, however it is a talisman. When Risa was 8, she had contradicted a very bad pneumonia case that nearly had a lethal outcome. In order to save the child, Risa's mother took the first accessory on the hand to give it a blessing via putting fragments of life force of each Mochirei serving the Aki clan. Ever since, Risa carries the charm with herself, strongly believing in its positive influence towards her vitality. At the time of emergency, she has been told she can break the seal to release the entity made of powers from the entire clan. On the downside however, there is no guarantee Risa will be able to control nor seal back the Frankenstein of combined Aki forces.
Risa has an ability to peak into the future. However, she will only see one of the possible scenarios and only five seconds of it. This means the future events she foresees are most likely to happen, but with certain course of actions taken they can be changed into a less likely scenario she did not see. Herself Risa finds it very confusing and is often unable to focus on a possibility things can go different, therefore she avoids this technique unless urged to.

♦Weapons♦
When she was a high school student, Risa was a baseball club president and the team captain. Despite being deeply involved with other clubs, this particular sport has always been her main and Risa chose to personalize it. Having a bat she used to claim most of her awards, similarly to how knights named their swords, the girl gave her wooden companion name of The Toothpick, barely ever parting with it on the pitch. To give it a further character, Risa then painted purple strips on it and chose it as a carrier of her talisman, giving the bat a whole new meaning of importance. With all those characteristics and shared history, it was no wonder that upon the tournament approaching, many years past her graduation, Risa chose the trustworthy Toothpick as her weapon.

♦Spirit♦
Despite her rather active search, Rikiya became the only spirit Risa had formed a bond with. Although both stay in good terms, Rikiya's spoilt attitude often makes it seem as if the ship is ruled by her, although the final word always belongs to Risa. Due to her teacher qualification, the shaman is used to deal with kids as well as finding an individual approach, which leads to her in her Mochirei working great as a team. With the spirit being constantly demanding attention and Risa eternally fascinated by cuteness of her ghost companion, two rather incompatible characters coexist in full zen.

♦History♦
♦Past♦
Risa is the heiress of an ancient Aki clan that specializes in blood-related shamanic techniques. Upon her birth, it was decided she's going to partake in the Shaman Tournament, thus she was born to carry a heavy burden of expectations throughout her life. Being a natural born genius, Risa was a quick learner when it came to books and basic practices. On the other hand, its clan techniques she struggle with due to her gentle nature. Most of clan exclusive shamanic spells required a sacrifice, usually small animals such as rats or rabbits, but Risa could never kill one. Despite inhuman pressure and severe punishments due to non-compliance, Risa had not once wavered and thus missed out on learning majority of clan's secrets.
Excelling in sports and studies, taking part in many clubs and heading the school's baseball team, Risa had every trait the most popular girl needed - but she also had one extra, the one that prevented her from becoming popular. From young age Risa was obsessed with anime and manga, and her incredible geekyness in that aspect kept most people at the distance. If not for her achievements in other spheres, Risa would have been a total outcast: and in a sense she was. Much to her dismay, not once in 22 years she had a boyfriend.
Due to her inability to fulfil requirements for clan exclusive techniques, Risa has begun a relentless work on developing her own style. She kept it secret from the family and obediently followed the training they put her through, all the while progressing with her personal, independent techniques. At the end, Risa was able to fuse sacrifice-free clan techniques with her creations, and the combination of both became the core of her combat mastery.

♦Pre-contest♦
When the Star of Destruction was bound to show up, Risa was already an adult, well aware of what it meant and long prepared to join the fight. Despite carrying the will of the Aki clan, once the herald has made an appearance, she cut all the ties with the family, essentially freeing herself from their pressure. To guard her unique and one-of-the-kind fusion style, Risa, using Shikibetsu, avoided all the potential participants prior to the preliminary matches.
When the new transfer student to the school she worked at happened to be the heir of the Asakura clan, Risa felt as if her plan has fallen to pieces. While she put her biggest efforts towards minimizing interaction with the boy to keep her identity as a shaman secret, Risa suffered a strong paranoia he was aware of it and was looking for an opening to strike. Nothing significant apart of few comical situations happened, and much further into tournament Risa learned not only Yoh did not realize she was a shaman but had not acknowledged her existence in general.

♦Preliminary matches♦
The Patch Officiant to test her was Thalim, who officially became the first person in the Shaman Fights to fall victim to Risa's overboard fangirling. She was instantly hooked up by his smile, proclaiming him to be positively adorable therefore a source of her interest. Thalim's introduction to the rules, however, put her in a bit of a pickle: despite understanding fighting him was inevitable in order to enter the tournament, Risa simply couldn't bring herself to use force against her newly found object of fascination.
Most of time given to land a hit, Risa spent trying to get a grip over herself, alongside to arguing with Rikiya who was less than impressed by her master's one-sided love affairs. With 3 minutes left, Risa finally got her act together and launched an attack, not without tears and loud apologies to her opponent. As it would be expected from one who's been training from the very birth, the very first attempt was a success and so Risa was awarded with an Oracle Bell. However, the love sick shaman did not end her and proceeded on then pestering Thalim to take her on a date, loudly fantasizing on what will their wedding will look like and what will they call their children. Creeped out, the judge used the fact Risa was deep in her delusions and fled, watching her future fights from hiding spots she couldn't see him at.
Out of three preliminary matches, Risa won all three with ease. The problem that arose, however, is that Risa avoided fellow shamans from the start, therefore she has not formed any bonds with other participants. To her, the second round was to become a challenge.

♦Looking for the Patch Village♦
Prior to setting off on what was to be a long, lonely journey, Risa decided to step off her pride and attempted to make amends with the clan. Although strongly displeased with her actions, the family accepted her apologies and expressed approval of her getting through preliminary matches with the usual excellence. Little did they know, but Risa's intentions were not to make peace but to gain access to the family's resources that she was certain included information regarding location of the Patch Village.
Her father, whom Risa questioned on the matter, confirmed the clan holding this knowledge, yet denied sharing it with her. According to him it, this was part of a test designed for her to prove her worth as a shaman and the only piece of advice he gave was that Risa had to find friends. While this reply angered Risa, its Rikiya who responded in the worst way possible. Without being instructed to, she attempted attacking head of the Aki clan and this resulted with her being confined in a bottle. Though Risa's father handed the vial back at once, he made a remark a Mochirei of such unstable character was to only drag her down, advising Risa to choose one of the clan's spirits. Risa, however, declined his offer.
Despite the advice, Risa chose to travel alone. Though not following any particular route, she soon crossed paths with her former pupil Yoh and his friends. Noticing the crew from afar, however, Risa avoided the direct encounter yet decided to follow the crew. With two descendants of ancient clans such as her own, Asakura and Tao, she was strongly convinced the kids possessed the knowledge she was after.
To keep her presence unnoticed when following the kids, Risa surrendered to the combination of her cosplay and stalking skills and not once had the group suspected having each of their steps repeated. However, Risa soon learned she's not the only person following Yoh and the friends as she eventually ran into Mikihisa, who has long been aware of her identity. The two engaged in a small talk regarding the future of the world from the perspective of the clans, leading to Risa being warned of Hao's return. After she confirmed the Aki clan being aware and prepared to fight him off, their conversation was interrupted by Rikiya, who had only butted in to demand Mikihisa to take his mask off. Similarly to Risa's father, he then made a notion a Mochirei with such poor attitude was to seriously affect her combat abilities.
After tailing Yoh for a little longer, Risa finally came to realization the kids were as clueless as herself, therefore she had left them be. Once her solo journey resumed, she's got to meet Sharona's crew and was invited to join, though politely declined the opportunity due to her gut feeling suggesting the girls were but a trouble. Offended by rejection, the group attempted taking Risa down, but she fought them off and fled at the first opening without exposing her fighting style any further.
As the search of the Patch Village progressed, a lonely shaman soon became an easy target of newly formed teams as well as those who set off for a journey together. While most of them have not posed much threat and were easily defeated, Risa eventually fell in a battle after being assaulted by Hao's followers. Although she believed this was the end, she found herself waking up with her wounds treated. As she learned later, her little stop to chat with Mikihisa has attracted attention of those who had also recognized her to be the heiress of Aki clan. From there on, similarly to how she tailed Yoh, the duo of shamans were following her and thus as she was about to be finished off by Hao's minions, they intervened to rescue her and fled right after. To their disappointment, however, Risa informed the two she held no information regarding Patch Village and thanked them for help, asking if there was anything she could do to pay them back. The duo then suggest Risa travelled with them due to proving herself as a strong shaman. Risa had gladly accepted the offer and now a trio became a strong team, finding the Patch Village before Yoh and the gang.

♦Shaman fights: Second round♦
At the Patch Village, Risa has finally been granted her long-term dream of meeting Thalim again and it exceeded her expectations. Not only her object of interested was present at all the times, but he also worked in a cafe where he was to wear a cute apron; this factor had a strong impact of her generally bad fangirl condition. On more than one occasion her team were forced to apologize to the Patch Officiant for her inappropriate behaviour while dragging Risa out from the venue. Despite all that, she would still attempt going back camouflaged in cosplay, often dressed as a maid, to claim she was a part-time employee. Her action drove Thalim into pure terror and he developed an habit of diving under the nearest table whenever the mad admirer made an appearance.
His peace has soon been restored as upon arrival of Yoh and the crew Risa's focus had fully shifted to Faust and Eliza. She found their story heartbreaking, captivating and similar to one she hoped to experienced, leading her into serious shipping episodes as well as scenario writing for a potential anime she would base on the couple. Though Faust had no major issues with that, the rest would award Risa with weird looks. Atop of that, she triggered Anna's wrath for the latter decided Risa would only stalk Faust in hopes of stealing the team's techniques.
Without discussing their options and reaching a mutual consensus, Risa signed up the team under the name of Nyan Koi, ultimately pissing her teammates off. Despite their efforts of telling her no one will take the team seriously, Risa was deaf to their pleas, fighting any logical argument with the fact the name she's chosen was cute. This led to her receiving many side glares of her team when, as they predicted, each fight included mockery of their name. Regardless of the name fiasco, however, Nyan Koi were on a winning streak and had soon gained a name of a strong competitor. The next opponent they were to face was Hao, however as the events took a drastic turn, the tournament was cancelled all together.

♦Extra♦
♦Family information♦
Name: The Aki clan;
Niche: Blood techniques;
Involvement with the spirit world:Aki clan is unwelcoming to strangers and keeps its secrets within. Unlike Asakuras, they're not so keen on traditions and accept the modern world better. The Aki clan however is very strict and secretive when it comes to their techniques - they take no outsiders as apprentices, though gladly accommodate shamans in training within their residence and allow them to use the facilities. However, the clan holds a dark past which is indicated by the fact most of the clan techniques include a blood sacrifice. While in a modern age it is small animals, back in a day to enhance their powers the Akis sacrificed people. Although the things had long changed, the reputation still lingers.

♦Trivia♦
- Just like many other shamans, throughout her life Risa's been a loner. Despite being heavily involved in club activities, she never had a close friend nor dated anyone;
- At the Patch Village, she's often seen wearing a cosplay;
- Risa is very desperate to find a boyfriend, or even a husband. Not Ryu desperate, but still desperate. She views the tournament as her chance to do so;
- She treats Rikiya as a child. Although she's often told she needs to be more strict with her and shape her personality up a little, Risa doesn't want to. She likes, accepts and adjusts to Rikiya just the way she is;
- There are MANY shamans and even spirits she finds herself fangirling over. John Denbat of X-Laws is one of them. This crush has nearly gotten out of hand for Risa was eager to join the X-Laws just to be closer to him, but as always her team would knock some sense into her.

♦Memorable quotes♦
- "I'm actually a hardcore otaku who likes maids more than having three meals in a day. And I only read books related to maids. Also, I only visit maid cafes. Of course I also collect maid figurines. I play games which feature maids and it turns me on so much that I’ll wear the maid uniform and jump in joy."
- "Don't tell me he wants to conquer the world? Can't he come up with something more original?"
- "Aren't we just a few lilies short of a shojo-ai?"
- "Why don't we drink to me and my reflection in your lovely eyes?"
- "Shining brightly, even for a split second, is better than living a dull-grey life for eternity."
- "I'm not going there to die. I'm going to find out if I'm really alive."
