Just tweaking and smoothing. It wasnt meant as a full tutorial. If you search "OOAK fairy tutorial" you can find very similar sculpting tutorials all over the net.

Its really starting to look like me! Its incredible!

Especially building features like my distinct nose and chin is very hard I know from other artists.. you are amazing

I am so glad to be able to see how it progresses

I think so too, though with makeup and eyebrows they always look better. The distinct nose is a challange. But I love diffenrt noses. Im a prefectionist ... I really want to have it be as close as possible.

I know this doesnt show placement of features or proportion devisions..this is the type of thing you should already know if you do figureative drawing.
I make a ball of clay and begin cutting the basic planes with a razor. This is the method Im using right now. I change it up from time to time. You can use beads or small white baked balls of clay for the eyes.

Yes, yes ^^ its jsut different to actually place the features....

I see.... sort of like drawing.... dividing things into planes ^^

Sleetwealth In reply to Faerie-s [2008-05-30 20:54:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes its like drawing. Only if something looks wrong instead of erasing you just push it around or cut away till it looks right! Its easy to place the features.

You have to remember to rotate the scultpure and check, back ,sides top to make sure its all even.

I shall remember that... *thinking* perfect symetry must be a bit difficult to get right.....

Sleetwealth In reply to Faerie-s [2008-05-31 22:53:35 +0000 UTC]

None of us are perfect symetricly and it you obtain it your faces will look manakinish and dead. Part of the expression and character I do it the very slight Asymetry. But you do have to check to make sure its not so off that it looks lopsided!
Its not difficult only you dont want to forget and work only from the front because something might look great from the front and aweful in profile.

This will be a full figure. She will look pretty once she has hair and eyebrows. She will be a lady of the lake(Avalon)
