Wow, is this the finished piece? I can see what you meant about the space-y look and it worked out pretty well.

I thought about the possibility of using some kind of transparent material in conjunction with what you normally use. That's what I'd try anyway.

i have considered that few times. Dont get me started.. my mind loves to latch onto elaborate new methods and transparency is a biggie.

ha well I already have some ideas Ive kicked around in that direction. overlays of trans clay with inclusions and also clear resins if I get to the point where I can run casting equipment/air compressor and not bother neighbors.

Man, all that sounds really interesting and it'd be cool to watch you work.

I love the expression. There's more emotion flowing from her than a model or actor could put into it.

Thanks. Seems to change depending on the camera angle.

I just spend some time looking at the other views. This one and and close up have a tinge of fear/sadness and the high camera angle bust looks a little more stern, the WIP is rather neutral. But overall, the word sugoi jumps all over me when I look at the catbat. I had a Japanese girlfriend, she explained the word sugoi in a way that few words in any language have a depth of meaning or emotional reach like that word has. Catbat looks like she is seeing something and is experiencing everything the word sugoi suggests.

Wonder is a part of sugoi. If you were seeing a wrath god god thing or a force of nature thing that is beautiful & overwhelming & awesome & terrible & perfect & uplifting & dangerous & on and on -- all of those things all at once
