THE COLLEGE EMAILS ARE CLAMORING FOR MY SOUL.THEY KEEP GETTING CREEPIER AND CREEPIER.
THEY CALL TO ME.... THEY WANT ME...
Seriously, though, am I the only one who finds college emails just a bit too desperate and persistent? D:

I don't get "college eMails". I DO get porn offers, vacation offers, business offers... all of which I find suspect. I am psychotic and paranoic and my junk sorter keeps them out of the real inbox. Porn is nowhere as prevalent as it used to be, but maybe that's because I blocked well over 100 items.
One of the worst was 2-3 eMails informing me of onferences in Africa. I told them I was NOT interested,and not to bother me again. You can understand why I do NOT want to go to Africa.

I actually just figured out why they send so many emails. They want more people to apply so that they could get a more accurate percentage of those they reject from the thousands that apply.

To think that in Germany WE practically have to come begging at our universities' doorstep these days... and all we eve get in return is "Ok, you're in. Welcome to *City* University, have fun and don't break anything."

Well, the thing is that these emails don't mean they'll actually let you in. It's just an advertising tactic, in most cases, to make us feel wanted. I've heard a lot of stories where people get these emails and then aren't accepted to the very same colleges. And then they keep sending them emails. It's kind of mean. XD

Ok, in a way that's even worse.
But our colleges don't do as much advertising beforehand (most don't at all, as far as I'm informed), so it probably feels a lot more like we have to canvass...

Ah. I guess we do at least get information about the colleges from the emails, so they're not all bad. Still, I wouldn't mind being left to my own devices like you guys are.

I guess both ways have their merits and pitfalls...
It's a bit hard to gather all the information about which university offers which courses and has which requirements, but there are some helpful webpages around.
