Description Continuing to stretch myself in different directions, I'm also working on a couple sci-fi based images. Here we have the young mech pilot Riley, and her mech, Bolt. It's not often you can find one separated from the other... especially since Bolt doesn't tend to move unless he's being piloted!

Riley is of course gorgeous, but I'm loving Bolt's textures!

I wish I could take more credit for those, but at least the lighting is mine!

Thanks for clarifying - I guessed that's what you meant, but I also know that certain pieces of art speak to people in powerful ways so anything's possible!

Nice!

You know me, I'm a sci-fi junkie, so this is right up my alley.

Well done!

It's been fun to mix it up - though also expensive as I didn't have much in the sci-fi space... :-P

Well, sci-fi stuff can be cheaper if you grab the do-dads and boxes that are like $1 and use those to your advantage in a scene. Most of that stuff is old but can be used easily with a handy script.

What is this "script" you speak of?

The Create Custom Action one...that puts it into the Scripts menu?Β

I have the one that turns things into Iray as a 'quick-script" so that I can easily take older things like from Poser, or wherever, turn them into Iray, and then render them. Saves quite a bit of money, since a lot of those older things are like $1.99 to $9.99 vs the $20 that they want for the new stuff. Plus there is all the do-dads and things that they haven't developed yet for Iray that you can convert.

Ah - gotcha. I just tend to manually apply the iray shader when needed. It's a bit of a time sink, but I didn't really start until a few months before iray, so more of my things are iray ready... already.

Well, like I was saying, just a thought, but for my money, it's just as easy to work with the old props and stuff converted over to Iray than to have to purchase brand new more expensive versions that are already Iray ready. Having the "script" right there just makes it that much easier. Β

Yeah, having it as a button would probably improve it. I will say that as far as props go, I'm much more inclined to use older stuff. As most of models are based on G3F, older outfits are sort of hit and miss as far as weather they stay usable - even with some of the more advanced clones.

That is, of course, assuming that I'm doing the fit properly to use older stuff on newer models

Here's one of the best things I've found regarding fitting things from older things to G3.

And it doesn't just have to be shoes mind you, this same method works for pretty much all kinds of clothing if you are finding that it doesn't want to fit.

Thanks! I'll have to give it a try. All the things I have tend to fail on clothes like skirts where it ends up mapping them to the legs directly and generates wicked tearing inbetween. Regardless, for a lot of sci-fi stuff (not office wear, generally) I bet it would be helpful!
