This looks a fairly simple lineart to colour (not if you do it by finger pixel by pixel on an iPad like I do though BELIEVE ME) so it might be nice to revisit this lineart and try colouring it again in a year or so and see how your colouring and shading techniques have improved. Love the 'shininess' of the hair. Maybe look up colouring tutorials on DA to see how to colour to look like shininess/glitter/textures/etc.

What made you decide to call her Gracie? I know you said you don't feel like you're can draw well and that you've never tried writing, but try giving writing a try, I can only reccomend it as having my characters surrounds and supports me in all aspects of life and just enriches my life. I feel you are obviously a creative person and you need a creative (and theraputic) outlet for your imagination.
Try thinking of who Gracie is. How old is she? Does she go to school or have a job? Who are in her family? Who does she care for and love? What is she passionate about? This pose looks sweet and thoughtful, so she must be thinking something, try and figure out what it is. If you look at her long enough, she might just tell you. I find with drawings at times the face tells all.

Thank you so much Jess for taking the time to write me this wonderful comment.    I have watched coloring tutorials, but the programs they use are very confusing to me.      I use a really simple paint program called (Paint.net) to color.  I also do all my coloring with a mouse, so adding hair streaks and special effects are usually hard for me to do, not to mention weird looking with the mouse.

To answer your question of how I came up with the name Gracie.  The little girl in this lineart has such a sweet face, but a little impish grin that I thought would be a cute irony of her name!  I didn't think I was able to come up with little bios for these linearts because I didn't draw it... The character was not originally created by me.  I give them a name because I hate to title my colorings with something generic like (Sitting Girl).  I guess it just my way of personalizing my coloring.

I am a very creative person... before I started coloring digitally, I used to paint ceramics, but unfortunately age took over and my eyes would not let me do the small intricate details of my project!  If I can't paint the small details anymore, it just isn't worth doing it because I wouldn't happy with the end result!

This past year on DA has been very therapeutic for me... I am recovering from a total knee replacement of my left knee and have to go in sometime in the coming year to have my right knee replaced also.
