This beautiful red bloom lives inΒ the garden at the House of Blue Flowers in Rock Garden, Alcoa, Tennessee. It was imaged on the final day of May 2015, a plant that has lived in this spot for three years. Each spring season, it makes these big red flowers.Related content

We grew the orange ones in Kentucky. BTW, something ate my red flowers. Cut them off like scissors. Two blooms. Both gone.

All I know is that I don't think anything can kill them, even me.

Ants can wipe them out rather quickly during a drought. However, as long as the bulbs are untouched, they come right back the next spring.

I have a lot of them, they came with the house. Β I used to have lavender planted near one grouping and the colors were beautiful together. Β A couple winters ago the frigid temps finally killed the lavender.

The lavender can be replanted.
