Loving the "gravel," especially.

i am not a purple kind of guy

thanks Doc...
it was alot of work --took me a few days to complete. Trying to pay attention to 'neatness' factor
you know the walls is from a small remnant of antique wall paper from a job.
never knew what i was going to use it for...so I was happy to use it here.

I think i see what you mean about the purple-it dominates?
in anycase-- I was trying to stay true to the original sketch --which was from life. although the coral reef were not such colours--Nebby was a purple dude.

Would you think a softer hue of purple? or u just a totally 86er on red and blue ensemble?

Okay
Purple...hands down a difficult color to use properly
maybe it is too reminiscent of something i would prefer to forget
just that raw purple is not my color
u will rarely see that in my paintings
though i will look and see.
the neatness factor shows and it does help

one thing
trying to stay true to some original
always take into consideration the piece you are doing
do what works and not what you think has to stay in some rigid
connection.
Make the piece work anyway you can and consider what makes it even better.

But maybe purple for me is a more personal dislike.
But as a tiny kid hearing Purple haze may have been a memory that sticks.

intrigued I am...
*
I know that about 'sticking to the original.'
I remind myself that it is an interpretation not photographic documentation.
But-alas--I have this little thing to try and get it 'right' --but-- as you can tell--I liberated myself --after realizing it would be really tiring to get the gravel as was.
Even if it meant losing the good work I did on it...
*
my new mantra; Make the piece work anyway you can and consider what makes it even better.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm---
ye be haunted by purple dinosaurs perhaps...
I mean --any child of Barney age had to be seriously affected by said colour...

not sure why i have problems with purple
maybe it supposedly reminds me of a time when it was the iconic color
magenta is cool
i use that
but straight up purple is difficult
same with lime green
but i do like Deep Purple
the band

liberate yourself to the new shelf of understanding
the level of looseness and neatness
yet
not overly intense
where both become a hindrance
but a fable of seeing forward
