                                                                                                                   The Dark Side

               As a child at the edge of this jungle I played curious and wild in the youth of my age.  Never stepping lest I explore never passing a creature without implore.  Till on this day when I ventured out to explore deep in this wood which I knew much about.

               Approached by a man with a stern decor short and thin his clothes were worn, I startled and stopped for my breathing grew  strong as the little man danced and rattled a song.  Welcome welcome lad have a seat a spot of tea a bit eat, this is the land of the wandering souls haunted by gouls gaunts and ghost.  This is the point of no retreat thou art condemned to life in these trees.  But if thy heart be strong and thy soul be rich at the east of the garden thou shalt find a witch, the witch with the power to set thee free.  But none have seen her none but me.There is a lake that lies at the edge of a hill, where the blackbird cries and my soul stands still.In a forest bewildered and trodden by none, except for me and my kind for we are all one.  The lake she is black and tarnished with sin.  I drink of her wine  I can feel her within.  Drunken and mad aloft in the woods I live by her ways and eat of her goods.

                With this he departed never telling his name soon he was gone as fast as he came.  Confused he had left me heart darkened and cold, I pleaded for someone to help me yet remained I alone. Like a ship at sea with no way to steer, no land in my scope be it far or near, no land in my scope and this I do fear.
Alone these days in the woods I have spent never finding a foe or allies nor friend.  Desolate here are all but the trees and a stream draining from a lake of no source.  I trudge about hopelessly urged on by some instinctive force.

                Approaching now a decade and eight, I've been adrift in this limbo of pain, perhaps I've died and this is hell, perhaps these woods are my eternal l chains.  The night befalls me robbing the day of the light that guides me along my way.  But the night she loves me for she cloaks me from harm, as the darkness surrounds me with its intents unknown.

                 I follow the stream with no beginning or end, hoping someday to find my family and friends.  Ahead in the distance I see shimmering light could this be the end of the lonely days and endless nights.  It's been eighteen years but I found my way out.  Back down the same street back to the same house, my mother and father long since have passed on and the one girl I love she too is now gone.  Those treacherous woods have stolen my life, and I think to myself there is a Dark Side....
