Description This is the result of my summer reading assignment. Our assignment was to reasearch a piece of Native American Literature and create a visual. I used the story in which Coyote steals fire for man. Originally I was going to portray all the animals involved, but I thought something like this would end up better, and it's even better than the vision of the other choice that I had.

This took me a long time, definitely the longest I've ever spent on art for school. I had a lot of trouble finding an image of a running coyote for the form, so I ended up using a wolf for the form sketch. I then used another photo of a standing coyote to help with the coat.

Of the things I think are horrid, the tail, the ground, and the feet that touch the ground all fit the category. What I think turned out decent is the head and the fire.

I used crayola colored pencils. That's all I have, so that's all I use ^_^

What a great idea! I think I remember reading that story, too, or one similar. Love the paws, especially that back one off the ground, and the poof tail flying behind coyote. You also did a great job with the coloring!

A nice pic - I picked it as a coyote right off, so I wouldn't stress about using a wolf form.
The colouring is fantastic, spot-on realistic. I like the paws, but I think the legs are a touch to thin. Beautiful coat detail and texture, and I like the fire!
