That is awesome *o*
I was wondering though, if you make layers of resin and let them dry, wouldn't the resin have a sort of separation line in between each layer? How would you fix that?

Layers of resin do dry and leave separation lines. I've been trying to figure out a way around that and so far, I've been trying to time the resin right. I'd stick the fish in after all the resin is tacky, before it dries all the way. It seems to work. Just takes patience and experience to tell how tacky the resin has to be.

What about making a small layer of clay-- you could use translucent, if you needed to-- with small wires? That way, you have a sort of base to work from and you can slide the components onto the wires, bake everything, cover with rocks/sand and resin?

I'd say maybe glue all the critters in first with glue and THEN add one layer of resin.

I would if I could, but I like to vary the height of the components sometimes. For example, if I wanted a fish to go higher, there won't be anything to glue it on because there is no surface unless I let a level of resin dry =\.

Yeah exactly! That's a problem. Somehow, sometimes the objects I put in the resin float. I think when I wait for it to dry then it gets too dense, but if I place the undry clay in the resin, then it floats, but this is just for air dry clay.

Oh yeah, air dry clay is really light. I can definitely see it floating. Polymer clay is heavier =]

As always this is very clearly set out. I love your imagination and the different things you come up with. Please keep on entertaining us this year.

My particular one doesn't really have a brand name since I bought it while I was in Hong Kong. However, lately I noticed Michael's has a epoxy resin. It comes in 2 parts, so there are 2 bottles, 1 is part A and the other is part B (the hardener). Good luck!

Very interesting. I suppose if you dangled the fish from fishing wire it would show afterwards?
