Genesis turned around quickly. She couldn't help but eye up Kara, one of the upper-classmen at her school who she had spoken on occasion to. She seemed incredibly sweet and friendly in the past, but they just hadn't bumped into each other enough to be much more than acquaintances.

"Oh hey, Kara. So you heard, then? Yeah... it sucks, but we were just getting to know each other. I guess I just wish I knew where he went all of a sudden, dropping off the face of the earth like that." Genny gave an attempt at a forced smile- "Crazy running into you here though!"

"Oh, yeah, this is where I do my jogging. It's peaceful!" Kara looked unsure of herself for a minute but then smiled and spoke. "Genny I know we don't know each other super well but I honestly think you're really cool. Who else would stand up at the talent show and sing Ariana Grande? I don't have the guts for that." Kara looked down, blushing. She was trying to get to the point, but it was a bit hard for her to spill it all out like this.
