I believe this picture is from the second season when Watanuki has a dream and it ends with mokona and a eggplant (although this might not be from that scene, might be from the end of the episode as well)
This character can be found in
Xxxholic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
and the idea of this concept is it is actually the sibling of Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth
All three series are from the Japanese Manga (comic) artist group Clamp. ALl of these mangas have become so popular they have been made into anime (cartoon series)
