Really sweet of you, so pleased you approved: I took a similar one 5 years earlier (before my dA days) and submitted it when I joined dA but ... looking at it again, when older and wiser, I didn't like lots of things about it so, vowed to try and do better. Last year we returned to the same place and I tried again!! Better but, think I could still do better!!

If Staithes is one of my favourite Yorkshire villages, this is one of my favourite Spanish villages; with its cobbled streets and air of sleepiness. In fact the human presence is our daughter in law. I hadn't realised she was in frame until I edited the photo!

Thanks Greg, so pleased you like it. I absolutely love that place and the best thing is, we were able to share the place with our eldest son and his wife, as they joined us on holiday. In fact the person in the photo is our daughter in law!Β

Soft focus? So that's what it is ... thought my glasses needed cleaning!!

Sometimes, soft focus does things to an image, almost turning it into a painting. That is what I like about this, and the composition really drives that home. Many welcomes, Ma'am.

Still don't quite know how I achieved it but I must try and replicate that effect!!

The camera did not have a certain point of focus so it guessed and you got lucky. To get this effect after the fact, open the image in an editor and select soften, then save it under a different file name in order to preserve the original image.
