Pleased you think so! I have to confess, I just saw an interesting old door but now you mention it ... I suppose it does have a certain romantic quality. I'm sure you could weave one of your famous stories around it!?

Yeah!!!!  Behind this door there is a hidden mystery to discover. The door opens only at a particular hour which one has to find out. In the "Strecksessel" at the left (Google translate  tells me "stretch chair", is that correct?) he can wait for this hour, but woe and ache will come if he's oversleeping! A pale skeleton will come and fetch hin into the dark....  But if he gets the right hour he will rescue the lovely daughter of the king and marry her and they will live happily even after...

Think maybe an armchair?
Now, there's a twist in the tale because, the clock on the door has stopped (yes in fact the clock really is permanently on 10:33!) the pale skeleton has caused it to stop and so no one knows the correct time! So that's a bit of a problem!!

No, not an armchair. I mean that thing on the left side of the photo, seems to be a deck chair. When I searched with Liegestuhl (the German translation for the Austrian Strecksessel ) Google translate gave me deck chair and I think that's the right word now.
Concerning the clock: it shows the time when the princess was cursed to be a pale skeleton. When the brave hero kisses the pale skeleton at the right time... see above

LOL I'm not very observant, I hadn't realised it was a chair (the husband of the chambre d'hote owner is an artist and I thought it was one of his pieces of work!!) All I could see was a slightly odd courgette!! (zucchini) Yes you are correct it is a deck chair; the sort which was used on the beach and which managed to attack anyone who tried to erect the thing. I remember my father doing battle with them whilst my sister and I collapsed with laughter at his efforts.
When I go back to the chambre d'hote I shall have a close look at the time on the clock. It may tell me if the the princess has been rescued or if she is still a pale skeleton!!

Ha, my mother loved these deck chairs! I could never get ready with them . And I got backache when using them
OK, have an eye  on that clock!

They had a nasty habit of collapsing too (at least when my father had erected them!!)
Yes, will check out the clock, it will probably be next year.

I like the details on this image. How the clock is off-center and there's an object by it.
It is like time doesn't exists. The title goes well with everything.

Thank you so much. The owners of this chambre d'hote in France are very artistic so I wonder if the door and the way it is set up is intentional: part of the art work. So I can only take credit for the photo and title, the hard bit was done by the owners! The whole beautiful house is quirky and very original. They serve fantastic food as well!!

Thank you - so pleased you like it ... and the title. I angsted for ages over that; I thought I had chosen a perfect one and then, unfortunately, I looked at some deviations of one of my deviant friends and there was the same title!! So thought I better have a rethink!!
