Great poster, great movie. I only wish that I had seen the legendary "hospital scene" before Mr. Kubrick deleted it!

This is a true horror film to me because the main concept-that the people you think would love and protect you would turn into monsters who would want to kill you. My dad-you DO NOT want to get him mad at you. He never hurt me, but he did hit me a few times for minor things. I always feared that if I ever was even one-hundreth as bad as Bart Simpson was, my dad probably would turn into Jack Torrance and come after me with a deadly weapon. Because of that, I have no criminal record, I never got any disciplinary infractions in school, I never smoked or used drugs, I'm still a virgin, and I didn't have my first alcoholic beverage until I was 25 years old. Some people might think my dad was too hard on me. I don't. When my dad got mad and said horrible things to me, I just figured that it was his first amendment right and I deserved it because I was a worthless screwup who never could satisfy his father's expectations. I never deliberately tried to make him mad, I just did. He has a trillion rules and it seems like I can never remember them all. And when I make one simple mistake, I have to endure his wrath for the rest of the day. When you get him that mad, he remembers every mistake I've made in the past perfectly, and from that point on, there's no pleasing him. It's like taking a test where there are no right answers. It's not fun, being afraid to even talk to your father out of fear that he'll go off like a 100-megaton nuclear explosive if you say the wrong thing. I sometimes thought about committing suicide, thinking if I did, my dad would be the happiest person in the world. I even wrote a suicide note once, keeping it carefully hidden, in case I felt the need to use it one day. In it, I stated that there was nothing to justify my suicide, that I wanted to be cremated rather than buried, and a general list of things I wanted to have given away to other people. I still remember the last words of the note: "Do not blame yourselves or each other for my death. Try to forget about me and move on with your lives."

It might sound like I have abnormally low self-esteem. Maybe so, but I think that's a good thing. People whose self-esteem is abnormally high are the people who are likely to be menaces to society, because they think they can do anything and get away with anything. Because they're on top of the world, they think they have a license to treat others like dirt. They're also more likely to take foolish chances because they don't have a realistic sense of what is and isn't possible. On the other hand, people with low self-esteem tend to be very kind, decent and sensitive people. If Lindsay Lohan had a father like mine, maybe she wouldn't have turned into an alcoholic drug-addicted troublemaker.

Here's an idea for a fun movie. Have somebody like Jack Torrance take out all the Hollywood starlets that the generals fighting the pop culture wars have on their hitlists (people that are parodies of Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and I'm sure you can add more to the list.)

Sooo... oddly enough, I'd have never seen "The Shining" (with the exception of a few clips here-n-there). However, my interest was peaked after watching a show called "Ghost Hunters" on the SyFy Channel a couple of years ago. They were doing an investigation of the Stanley Hotel and it was absolutely fascinating.

Now, after finally watching the film, I have a much deeper appreciation for it -- especially after checking out your poster! Awesome work dude!
