1. Fluttershy...  Overall, the human translation is quite good.  Although...while her colors are good, and the mystic-energy wings are a good translation from pegasus, I find it odd/interesting that you make Fluttershy more thickly-built for body than, say, Rainbow Dash.  And at least you did not overdo her breasts as well, I never understand why the majority of human Fluttershy's (even the non-sexual ones) depict her with having a larger 'rack' than the rest of her fellow Elements.

2. Rarity...  This one I actually take the opposite stance compared to others' Comments in that I like this human translation of yours less than I could.  Rarity, by her own characteristics, should have more of a "stylish" & "poise" beauty/feel to her, rather than a "hey baby, nice rack!" feel to her depiction.  It is fine if you want human-Rarity curvy, but perhaps dressed is something more "professional", rather than something too "flaunt-ish".  Something to consider with refinement of character-depiction with later works.

3. Pinkie Pie...  No negatives here, your human translation is spot-on.  From her hair (something many fan-artists have surprising trouble with), to her overall colors, to her facial expression, and even her pose, it definitely says "Pinkie Pie" there.

Always happy to provide an objective eye (relatively speaking), and (hopefully) constructive critique.

I felt pretty strongly about Rarity's depiction because most people mis-understand or mis-perceive her character.  Yes, Rarity does act haughty and "stuck up" at times, and that is the obvious negative flaw to her character; but if that were truly & fully Rarity's nature, she would hardly be the Element of Generosity.  The counter-balance is that Rarity is a character who understands that "Poise" means "standing straight" in more than just your physical body position, and "Pride" is the value of being able to keep your head held high even in the face of defeat (such as in the recent episode of "Rarity Takes Mane-hatten" [S04, Ep08] when she thought she had lost the fashion competition).

That is why I put out the suggestion to refine your human Rarity to something- well...more refined.   Rarity is more of a "pedestal" beauty rather than a "stripper pole" beauty, if you understand my meaning .

Question: When referring to them in hunamization, do you give the "tribes" different names? I know you probably don't care but I've come to call them "Airborn" "Earthbound" and "Mystics"

Amusingly, they're also the three who least represent their tribes' defining characteristics. Twilight, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash seem to be the ones who most closely adhere to their tribes' established traits, with Twilight as the most studious powerful mage of her generation among a tribe of magic using scholars, Applejack the best farmer of a tribe mainly devoted to growing food, and Rainbow Dash being the most aggressive and fastest flier among a tribe known for being the most warlike and, naturally, airborne. These three, meanwhile, have talents and personality traits that are more tangential to their tribes.

well said! I guess it reminds us that you dont have to be known for tribes talents; meaning they have a talent not based on their race/tribe unlike Twilight, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. I guess it makes them more versatile and less needn't of their ability is it was taken away...

bico-kun In reply to BrightestStarlight [2013-10-19 18:50:38 +0000 UTC]

I'm not a big fan of the Planet of Hats trope, anyway (or in this case the Tribe of Hats). It's an easy shorthand method of distinguishing different populations (aside from the wings and the magic stuff), but it comes off as too much like what we do on our own world, where we say "this race is like this" and "that race is like that." Any member of those races which don't follow are ruled as "exceptions that prove the rule" and dismissed. In the case of stories like this, of course, it often occurs because the writers take the traits they've assigned to one of their main characters and just apply it broadly to whatever race to which they belong. That's generally why it's a good idea to have more than one member of a fantasy race in a work, so one has a better chance of avoiding this by showing that there's no "ideal" of any particular race.
