"Silence. The Night the Laughter Died."
In an alternate reality the man known as the joker is a good guy. after his mother died, Joey Kovax ran off to join a traveling circus. He was took in and raised by the "flying Graysons" and became best friends with their son Dick. Joey loved to make people laugh. it was through their laughter he could escape the pain of his depression. with his clown comedy act he brought smiles to the faces of children everywhere. a few years later and Joey was now 23 years old. One night, the circus had past through a dark city known as Gotham and that night the Flying Graysons were doing their performance when something happened and the parents fell to their death. Dick survived but had serious injuries and was rushed to Hospital. later on it was learned that the equipment was tampered with. Joey Decided to hunt down the ones responsible for the death of his adoptive family. Joey walked around the city trying to find any sort of clue. He over heard some thug on his phone in an alley boasting about the job he did at the circus and Joey snapped. he attacked the man and after a brief fight the thug managed to get away. joey suffered some badly bruised ribs but managed to walk away under his own power. when he returned to the circus there was commotion and sirens. he made his way to the front of the crowd and the owner of the circus had been killed his throat slit from ear to ear. turned out the Mob tried to extort him for money when the circus arrived in town and he said no. now with the owner dead the circus was no more. Joey was stuck here. it was then he decided to become a vigilante and fight the crime that had plagued this city. He donned face paint and a purple costume and became the Joker. for a few months he just fought small time thugs but the image he sent was inspiring. this colorful and happy hero in a dark gritty city like Gotham gave people hope. three years later. one night some drunk thug was trying to force himself on a woman in a dark alley. but then heard a laughter coming from above. he looked up and the Clown Prince of justice dived down and tasered him with his hand buzzer. Joker then went to check on the lady and she thanked him with tears running down her face. Joker was taken aback when he looked into her eyes. she was so beautiful...he gave a somewhat nervous chuckle and said it was no problem and he was happy to help. and he used his grapple gun and flew up to the rooftops.
the next day, Joey ran into His best friend Dick who he had not seen in over 2 years. after his parents died, Dick fell in with the wrong crowd. became a drug addict and eventually became a henchman for a criminal operation, unknown to Joey. Dick said he just got paid and they should celebrate their Reunion. they ended up going to a strip club but Joey was a bit uneasy about the idea but still tagged along. after a few drinks they heard the man announcing the next dancer "Okay ladies and gentlemen, Give it up for Harley!" Joey looked up and saw the girl he saved from the night before. he was awestruck but then fear of being recognized set in and he quickly turned around and went to the men's room. Later on Dick got a phone call and told Joey he had to go but would see him later. Joey then went to leave but turned around and bumped into the Girl. as soon as their eyes met, she recognized him. he panicked and ran out of the club she followed him and asked who he was. he told her he was nobody and asked her to please forget she ever saw him. later on joey arrived at his one room apartment and put on his costume thinking a run would take his mind of that girl Harley. He came across a drug smuggling and engaged the henchmen.he beat them all rather easily but then was blind sighted and hit in the jaw. he looked up and saw two masked figures, both with the same bird symbol on their chest. one was red and the other blue. he tried his best to fight the two but was out numbered and outmatched. they beat him senseless and were about to kill him when a voice stopped them. "He's learned his lesson. I doubt he will stick his nose in out business again" "Okay Boss". they then got in the car and drove away leaving him bleeding out in the gutter. Joey came to in a living room. his wounds were cleaned and bandaged and he was lying on a couch. "Oh thank god you're awake!" he looked to the doorway and saw her. it was the girl Harley. he tried to get up and leave but it hurt to much to move. she then told him not to panic and that she did not care who he was. other then the man that saved her that night and she would never tell anyone his secret. 4 days had passed and they learned about each other while his wounds healed. they both fell in love and he hung up the mantel of the joker and got a better job so she could stop stripping. 7 months later and life was good. he missed being the beacon of hope and saving people but he promised Harley, Never again. He then walked past a dark street and saw someone being mugged. he went to stop him but the recognized the Mugger, it was Dick. he asked him what was he doing? and Dick shouted at him "Get out of here!!" in the confusion the man escaped. Dick then told him to not get involved in his business and ran away. Joey then walked home not knowing he was being watched...
Joey then got home and thought about what he saw. He knew he had to get his friend out of whatever hot mixed up in. he took out the costume, put on the face paint and went out on patrol. he came down hard on all the drug dealers and thugs he could find. trying to find out the truth, trying to find who was in charge. he eventually found a lead to a warehouse and when he went inside he was ambushed. 20 plus men rushed him but he barely managed to beat them and then something flew over head. he then heard the landing behind him. and looked up at a tall dark menacing figure. this monster looked like a massive gargoyle.it was him, the crime lord that had cloaked the entire city in fear. The "Bat" He was then flanked by his two men that beat him to a pulp last time. Joker was outmatched and decided to retreat until he heard the Bat's voice. "Leaving so soon Joey?" his blood turned cold. and turned around to face his adversaries. "Yes I know who you are, you should have took my warning and kept your nose out of my business.then maybe your girl would still be safe" he then saw Harley tied to a chair behind them. Joey ran and began fighting the two masked men and beat down the red one before receiving a sickening punch in the back of the skull by the Bat. he woke up strapped to a chair facing Harley. the Blue masked man walked up to them and took of his mask. it was Dick. "I tried to warn you Joey. but you would not listen. you always try to save everyone.but this is the reality we live in. for what its worth, im sorry." he then walked away and as Joey tried to tell him about who killed his parents when he felt a hand slap down on his shoulder and saw the red guy. he told him. "unlike my accomplice, Night wing, I am going to enjoy what happens next. you know I always hated you and what you stood for, you think you were ever going to make a difference? life is not happy, its sad and miserable and the bad guys win and now you get to see first hand what happens when you try and mess with our affairs. this is OUR city and you get to watch as your life gets destroyed right in from of you." he then turned to Harley and walked around behind her "she does not look like she is having fun does she Joker? I know lets put a smile on that face. he then took off the duct tape and started carving her face. the screaming that followed was horrendous as she was tortured for 25 minutes in front of Joey who was powerless to stop it after she was utterly mutilated she was put out of her misery by a gunshot to the back of the head. joey kept screaming and Red hood came up behind him and slit his throat.the warehouse was set on fire with the two left inside. Joey managed to escape the burning building but passed out on the side of the street. he woke up in hospital. the smoke inhalation and his severed jugular had left him forever silent. never to laugh again. not that he ever would after what had happened. His whole reason for living was dead. and it was his fault. After a few days he left the hospital and left Gotham city. and for went underground not knowing what to do. A few months passed and he watching TV. an Election had taken place and local billionaire Bruce Wayne had become Gotham's new mayor. Joey saw the two men standing beside him and saw Dick, he then made the connection. his eyes flared with rage. the man he thought of as his brother....he then went and trained,for two years and became a weapon of justice and revenge. He returned to Gotham and as night fell he went to grab his old costume and stopped....he looked in the mirror and remembered. the time for laughing was over.the joker was no more. He then altered his costumed. Donning a black suit with a striped tie. He applied his face paint, his bright red smile now a black frown and a single tear under his left eye. now resembling a mime, Joey set out into the city to find and Kill Dick Grayson, the Red hood and Show the world Who Bruce Wayne really is before carving a smile into his lifeless face and destroying everything he had built. they will never see him coming and the last thing they will ever hear is....
