If it was summer,I'd sit amongst the fireflies,
and wouldn't try to catch them.
[I couldn't-not with the images of glow-in-the-dark war paint
on children from past dates running through my head.]

Well, it CAN be a Haiku. English Haiku do not necessarily have to be 5-7-5. (However, I always stick to 5-7-5.) Also, the mood, the subject matter, they DO fit into what a more traditional Haiku is. I suppose if you wanted to make it 5-7-5, you could. It is a very good piece!
