This Daily Deviation is well deserved. Of course I'm not surprised that you have a DD - or several!
You have a very fitting user name. You seem to paint with smoke and magic dust, with light on a canvas of darkness. And I am really drawn to this kind of thing: things, that seem bright because they're on a darker background, semi-transparent objects with an inner glow, gradients and lense flares around light sources. And all of that is expertly done.
The first impression I have with most of your images is one of beauty and of chaos. The way you use the colours - in this one, gold and green and blue - really catches my eye. But it takes a while for me to adapt to this style to see the details.
First level of abstraction: I see a cat, I see stars.
Second level of abstraction: I see fishes, I see a moon.
Third level of abstraction: I marvel at the details on the moon, the way you put in stars, I see the other two cats and I see the water line.
Yes, if there was anything to be improved, it would be the distinctiveness of the water. And maybe the shape of the moon, it doesn't seem too round on the left bottom.
I find it interesting that you have included what looks a bit like child's drawings. The fish on the far left, the stars and - looking like craters, what a great idea! - the paws on the moon. Well, if it is for a children's book, it certainly is fitting. And with the cats being so absolutely adorable, playful and one of them fishing with a star, I wonder if a child had any part of the imagination behind Moon Cat.
The dynamic is interesting, as well. Together with the water line and the direction the fish seem to swim into, the cats seem to mark a curve, adding to the organic look provided by the round bodies of the cats, the fishes, the moon, and even the stars aren't all pointy (with maybe the exception of the fishing star... hm...).
Before I end this comment, here are some more things that I find beautiful and worht mentioning:
Stars in the fur.
Glowing bubbles and water splashes.
Clusters of stars.
