It was said as Buddha would meditate for long periods of time, snails would crawl all over his head. This kind of explains why Buddha has that coiled hair.I like that story.

The story is that the snails were cooling the Buddha's head with their mucus when he was meditating during the hot Indian summer. When the monsoon rain came, a giant cobra hovered over the Buddha as his shelter from the downpour. By helping the Buddha to achieve Enlightenment, the animals hoped to acquire enough good karma or at least to gain bodhi, the potential of Buddhahood, in their next lives.

How is it that you got the white outlines around the snails to stand out so vividly? It's such a cool effect and makes the entire piece seem incredibly ethereal.
