Description Some of the greatest influences on Jones' work if you watch closely enough, are the GREAT silent comedy greats. In particular, the one that stands out to me is Buster Keaton. Considering Jones' exacting standards, the precision of his punchlines, and the brilliant execution of his gags - I can't but help of think of Keaton's influence on him. Especially if you've seen a Keaton film, you would understand the timing. Usually, in a Buster Keaton film, Keaton lets the situation become even more manic and then he executes a flawlessly brilliant piece of coming timing with a sequence that rides the tension for all its worth. The same could be said here - once again this is A Pest in the House (1947) - A particular hotel guest has demanded that there be absolutely no more noise to disturb his sleep, and that if that happens he's liable to EXPLODE! Just as he's issued Elmer a dire warning, he returns to a sound sleep, only for Daffy to be irritated with the radiator in the room of the guest. He's determined to ensure that the guest gets some proper heat (even if he really doesn't notice, care, or even have any idea about it), he rushes over the beaten Elmer to get down to the Boiler room to serve up the heat, Elmer knowing he has to keep things quiet at all costs - rushes to stop the duck only for Daffy to get in that last bash to the pipes! A brilliantly funny chase that is made funnier by the under-current of tension throughout the sequence!
