Description I love Gargamel! He´s one of my favourite villains...no wait, actually he is my favourite villain of all-time!!! He´s so mysterious and funny and probably has many secrets about his past. Azrael is his henchman but also a friend and a pet what makes them exceptional villains. Ah and those red fabric shoes! His outfit is awesome! What a complex character he is! Poor guy must be pretty lonely and he really doesn´t have a very good luck I noticed they have started to re-publish Smurfs comics, I have to get the album about Gargamel when it will be published! In Finland there haven´t been published so many Smurfs/Les Schtroumpfs comics and always when I have seen them in flea markets or comic shops I have instanly bought them! (and not to mention of those little smurf figures!)

I used black ink and gouache colours plus water colours for this.Ah,I especially enjoyed coloring those shoes, the red colour was so delightfully thick!Gouaches are so nice to use

Gargamel & Azrael belongs to Peyo.

Oh thank you! Yeah, there aren´t so much art of himI don´t understand why, he´s a badass villain and funny and symphatic too and his past is so mysterious and his outfit so fabulous!I seriously want those shoes as you can see in my avatar picI actually have created one comic character (his/her name is Drawer in English) and he/she looks quite much like Phantom Blot but with Gargamel´s shoes that are black I´m drawing at the moment more Gargamel fan art, he gives me so many ideas

OH GOOD! You haven´t?Oh, well not all are but you have to first read comics or watch the cartoon show(that is very good!!)before you go watch the movie because that didn´t seem very smurfy to me...they were saying stuff Smurfs never say like "Oh...my...smurf..." "I think I just smurfed in my mouth" in the trailer. Why they must ruin my childhood? Also they bring smurfs to New York and I guess whole movie is about how they wonder the city and the city wonders what are smurfsT___Tbut Gargamel seems so badass, Hank Azaria(voice actor from Simpsons) is playing his role!Huh, that´s a big relief!!!!

I haven't seen it in theaters . . . it's likely on it's way, though. (sigh) there are just too many not-so-good movies coming out that my hopes are not high for the smurfs.

Hmm,I have a feeling it will premiere this week or the next,at least that is how I remember it Yeah, though I´m waiting eagerly the last Harry Potter film and Tintin film and the new Muppet movie(it will be in cinemas!!!!) I´m so excited those two last ones!!!! They´re both probably going to be very good,at least I have a hunch they will Btw, the new Pirates of the Caribbean film was very good!Me and my friend both liked it, it was a little different than the others(well, probably because there weren´t Will&ElisabethxD)and Barbossa was sooo cool,I just adore how well Geoffrey Rush can act a pirate,he was born in that role Even Penolope Cruz wasn´t bad(huh,I was afraid she wasxD)

Also I´m waiting the Hobbit film(no idea when it´s going to come out) because Martin Freeman(one of my fave actors) is going to be Bilbo!!!(at least I saw some pics of it) And then I´m waiting the new episodes of BBC´s new Sherlock Holmes series,it´s fantastic, though they made only 3 episodes of it(all are almost movie-length)but the new episodes will probably come out during fall.
Oh please let the Smurfs be better than the trailers!!!!lol!

I have been waiting for that kind of to happen and it will premiere next November!!!(trailer said it will come out on thanksgiving day) Yeah,I guess it helped that we dissed Hollywood so much, now they try to make it up to us!lol! They better be!

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-06-28 00:59:11 +0000 UTC]

oh man! it has SO MUCH TO MAKE UP FOR!!! hate hollywood. I always will, too, after Charlie and the chocolate factory and Ella Enchanted, plus Avatar, the last airbender. could have killed all actors involved plus directors and screenwriters after seeing them. (sigh)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-06-28 14:56:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they have done some horrible films and full of clichés Though I like Charlie and the chocolate factory,I love its visuality but Johnny Depp and the others should have acted a lot more naturally:/(and Charlie is so annoying, what is he, a saint or something??) Those others you mentioned I haven´t seen(I guess I´m lucky then). Though I have to say that Tim Burton´s style has become a cliché and a manner:/it´s not very creative to use the same kind of shapes in character&background designs and same kind of characters etc. all the time...but still I like some of his movies quite much, like Scissorhand-EdwardBut he should try some new things in his movies, otherwise it gets old:/ I guess he loves spirals and thin hands&legs too much

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-06-29 00:05:52 +0000 UTC]

yeah, his movies were ok. but he can't take a book like Willy wonka and turn it into his own dialogue. honestly, the words Willy said in the book were the same, but the WAY depp said them . . . . you just instantly thought "needs to be put away." seriously. (sigh). and charlie is annoying. seriously, they didn't even describe how bad it was. did you know that Charlie and family were ACTUALLY STARVING before Charlie found the last Golden ticket? woah. like seriously. woah. anyway, sorry about the rant. and yeah, I told my sister that Burton only sees in shades of blue, grey, white, and black. nearly all his sets and costumes are like that (except the charlie and Alice movies).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-06-29 15:32:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah,he should either make a whole movie of his own idea or if he does a movie about based on a book,he should be loyal to it:/Directors...I guess Burton isn´t very expert of classic children´s books(though Dahl´s books aren´t only for kids at all)Yeah,he really has a lot of shades of blue,grey,white and black in his movies,they are his main colours he uses...sigh!It fits for some movies like Corpse bride but he should try some other colours,like YELLOW AND GREEN AND RED!!!!xDDD I remember that they were extremely poor in the book and I always remember that bed thing,they had only one bed and 4 grandparents there;_;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-07-01 06:22:38 +0000 UTC]

I agree, he's not (sigh) though he can make some good semi-spooky movies. lol, if it's yellow, gree, or red, it's either NEON or with dark tones. nothing cheery or inbetween. they were SUPER poor in the book. jeeze, starvation before chocolate salvation! I remember the 4, though they do all eventually get out. one of them was particularly troublesome (sent the group into space via glass elevator). but it turned out alright in the end.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-07-01 09:58:10 +0000 UTC]

True! Haha, neon!!!Yeah, you´re right about his using of colours Huh,pretty tough for a children´s book(or is it even a children´s book????)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-07-01 19:41:54 +0000 UTC]

yes. yes it is. though you wouldn't think so, practically. stories of children being made into straberry flavored chocolate fudge . . . . little girls blown up into blueberries. boys streatched till they are ten feet high . . . oh, and little bratty girls going down to incinerators. . . . and all with a smile! lol, Dahl is amazing. just flipped through the second one . . . and I nearly cried at the end. mostly because it's SO CLEAR there needs to be a third book . . . AND THERE ISN'T!!!!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-07-01 20:43:36 +0000 UTC]

I think he did a little bit of satire in that book about those brats and their parents who give them anything they want and can´t raise their kids with reasonableness!xD Haha, that blueberry girl part was pretty extreme!!!!huh! Have you read his other book (I don´t know the English name of it,was it Fantastic mr. fox?) about the fox and those farmers? I really liked that when I was a kid,it was exciting and that part of describing the one farmer´s ears that was full of dead bodies of flies etc was so gross and funny then!!!Oh dear,he had just a wicked sense of humour! Also I love one poem of his that told us about how Goldylocks really did multiple crimes when he entered to the three bears´ home!I liked how he made his own, modern and funny interpretation of that tale! It´s so unfair that he didn´t finish that Charlie series!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-07-02 06:37:10 +0000 UTC]

yeah! fantastic Mr. Fox! LOVED that one! they made a movie on it recently, did u hear? was quite cute. but I didn't like the plot. Mr. Fox didn't seem fantastic so much as mean and stupid . . . because of his "hunting habits," he got the whole family in danger, it seemed, but at the same time they made it seem like he wasn't "supposed" to hunt. like he was supposed to be "civilized." (sigh) oh well. Violet Beauregarde. was the name of the blueberry girl.

His poems are pretty funny, too. I liked the goldilocks one, and some of the others (cinderella is pretty cool, but Jack and the beanstalk is pretty funny, I think. )

I KNOW! Dahl is up in heaven laughing his head off at us. if he's not careful, I might just try and write a third one myself. most authors say that if you want to read a book that isn't invented yet, invent it yourself! I'd have to do a lot of studying, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-07-02 11:15:19 +0000 UTC]

I haven´t yet seen it. Oh that´s too bad if he was mean and stupid and not clever:/ The plot of the book was so epic and thrilling! Huh,no wonder if I didn´t remember the name of the blueberry girl!

I would like to read his other poems like those you mentioned, maybe I could find them in the library...

Lol,again he´s laughing at our expense, that sneaky old devil! Yeah,I have heard that too, and I think it´s a good saying and you should totally try to write a sequel for it! Though writing in his style must be quite hard!O__O

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-07-02 15:55:04 +0000 UTC]

you can find them in his collection . . . there's this big book called the dahl collection . . . I think. but it might be in Revolting rhymes. I don't know if I could write a sequel . . . even legally. they might have the sequel rights on the Charlie books. (shrug) but it would be fun. hard but fun. . . . why couldn't my senior thesis be that? I'd have to listen to/read all his books and do it constantly when writing, in order to copy his sense of style. when I listen to/read a style of writing for a while, my brain imitates the style.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-07-03 16:34:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh thanks for the tips! You most likely have to have some permission of the whoever owns the rights for them I thinkbut you could always write a fanfic sequel, that isn´t illegal What´s the subject of your thesis btw? Yeah,it would be quite hard to write in his style. That sounds kinda like me when I want to learn/imitate someone´s drawing style,I read the comics/watch cartoons and look them as references while drawing, though just copying of pictures is quite mechanic so I usually just look how the characters/drawing style looks like and then just draw them in some posture (like those Daffy pics in 30´s style I did in style of shorts that were directed by Frank Tashlin, whose style of animation I admire)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-07-04 23:37:35 +0000 UTC]

I suppose the fanfic wouldn't be illegal . . . I dunno about it. I feel like I do not have the Dahl style as much as others might . . . I have no idea what the subject of my thesis is, but I'm sure I will find out later . . . there's probably some good research topics to do . . . likely about kids in school, since I am studying to be an elementary teacher.

Yeah! how you imitate style is EXACTLY how I do it! research! it's what makes some of my fanfics authentic. (i.e. Cat magic).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-07-10 18:28:19 +0000 UTC]

Hmm,if the style doesn´t fit for you maybe you could write in your own style or your style mixed with Dahl´s style But I guess writing that huge fanfic could be quite much work!O_O

I hope you find a subject for your thesis that interests you! By the way, how long it will take for you to graduate?

The answer for making good fan art: Research and practice!!!

(but you have also great writing skills and no research can help with that)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cimorine90 In reply to SnappySnape [2011-07-14 02:02:12 +0000 UTC]

aww, thanks! but before I had those skills I practiced. . . a lot. like, since I was little. it really takes a lot of practice. plus I read a lot of books on writeing. I'm still reading books on writing, in fact.

Eh, I feel like if i write in my own style it won't work. as in, it wouldn't be the sequel that Dahl would have imagined . . . apparently he was stuck when he got to the end of the second book . . . I would have liked him to talk about the president and the factory more, plus a few more things. . . but I don't know what. his jokes range from ok to crude, and his humor is smattered all through the entirity of his books! (sigh) maybe I should just let sleeping dogs lie, I dunno. plus, sequels written by other authors have a history of not working. and yeah, the fanfic would take AGES.

well, I hope I find a subject, too, but there's really no rush, because I'm not graduating for 2 more years, and even then I still have to do my MAT, masters in teaching degree! so I have plenty of schoolwork left . . . but I don't mind. wish me luck. . . gotta search for my very first appartment.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SnappySnape In reply to Cimorine90 [2011-07-15 19:08:17 +0000 UTC]

I guess we both have practiced quite a bunch then!(you writing and me drawing) It´s fun to be able to get better infinitely, lol! The practice will never end! I always liked writing stories too until well, when there was very deppressing and dull teacher,he demanded too much and the subject(creative writing) wasn´t even compulsory!:s I haven´t wanted to write actual stories in many years now, only scripts for comics and the things in the speech bubbles(oh and some silly rhymes!)But comics are my way to express things best(besides,I usually get ideas that are at their best in the comics and not in written formxD) I´m happy that I started so early drawing, now I know my weak and strong points and just like in writing it´s fun to see my own style to develope! Ush,I can´t look at some of my old drawings! Oh dear, sorry for walking on a memory lane again!:'DDI hope there was some point there...somewhere...Oh my...I guess I should go to sleep now, lol! Daffy:Can´t you see, you´re as self-absorbed as me!:na: Me: Hey!!!In that case...I should be you, don´t you think?
Daffy:--- Waith a minute!!!!I´m sure thath was an insulth of some sorthh!!!!!
Mer just an obsessive fan!
Daffy: O_O Okay,first comes the insults...then the creepy stuff!!!!AAAGGGGHHHH!!!!

Oh I did that again,didn´t I?Old habits die hard!xD

Huh,rude humour is quite hard thing to balance so it isn´t too accusing or insulting:/ I guess nobody can perfectly imitate his writing, huh!True, that same thing goes to comics as well(about sequels written by other authors)Huh,writing fanfics are hard work!!!!I salute you for writing them!!!!

Oh,nice that you have still time until that! OH,you have a lot of schoolwork then! But you clearly are studying the right thing for you!^^ Oh,your first appartment!!!I send you tons of good luck via first class mail!!!(I answered to your note but this stupid internet connection failed just then when I tried to submit it and it all vanished!T___T) Oh,I haven´t told you yet(or have I?) that I got in one school(UNIVERSITY omg!) to study comics!!! I will write a journal about it as well I think,I´m so happy about it! Only flaw is that it´s only on Wednesdays since it was originally meant for a minor subject for the students of that school but others could apply there with a portfolio, like I did.Huh,nice change to get to study something, and this thing I couldn´t love more to study!
