Personality: Lathyrus happens to be an extremely emotive reptile, in multiple ways. Most of Lathy's traits come from him adapting to survival in the Western Skerry. He's taught himself how to survive and thus molded his own personality in such teachings.
Kicking things off, Lathyrus is rather picky; for example, the food he ends up finding to dine on. If it's over a few days old and has a rancid, rotten smell but looks clean and fresh? He'll avoid it like the black plague. Though this whole selective attitude has left him hungry a couple of nights, he prefers personal preference over anything else. Lathy doesn't play around when it comes to his preferences as well; another example being that he refuses to walk on anything relatively muddy. This doesn't help much with the fact that he lives in an area that is made up of a rain forest. The point has been proven though, regardless of what is more logical, Lathyrus doesn't care if it comes to him being clean or pleased or anything similar. His emotions above all else.
Lathyrus might be emotive, but it doesn't have to mean he has a positive expression. This goes to say that Lathyrus is deceiving and uses deception for survival. He has no issue with acting one way just to get his actual way. As per expected, another example; Lathy might fool a smaller snake into believing that he's there to help them, with gentle coos and relaxed body language. In reality, after his comrade kills something and sets it down for them to share? He has no issue with snatching the animal up in his jaws and racing off. It's very true that he doesn't like to physically confront other reptiles about things, but he will do such if he's forced to do such. So, moral of the story? Lathyrus changes his attitude and body language based on the reptile he's dealing with. He's small and seemingly incapable of inflicting any major wounds but that's just a coverup of what his true intentions are. Like said, when Lathy gets a chance? He's instantly stealing the unsuspecting reptiles meal or possession that he wants and high-tailing it out of there. Sneaky is the devil, y'know?
Lathyrus isn't one that is reckless with his tricks either; inside his small head is a bunch of ticking gears, working away at calculating the situation and how it'll go down. Either way, it's best to say that you shouldn't let his pretty scales fool you.
As an addition for the last subject; Lathyrus isn't stupid either. His head might be small but like previously mentioned, ticking gears. Lathy doesn't rush blindly into anything and knows his own limits. Assuming he's stupid due to him valuing preference over logic is a mistake, he's still alive even with his standards, right? For example, Lathyrus wouldn't try and play with a Medieval. Lathy also wouldn't mess with any sort of other reptile unless he could see a clear escape. He's good at what he does and any species would be stupid to doubt that. So, despite him being risky with his theft, he's definitely cautious enough to where he hasn't gotten himself killed up until this point.
Through and through, he might be elusive and odd to see around, but he definitely knows how to play this living game, at this point. He might not be the kindest around, but he could have some charm to him with other reptiles if he didn't play so unfairly.
