Like how FDR and Churchill are chatting together friendly - like at Teheran, while Stalin glares by himself at the viewers.

Nice pic and all, and I don't want to be polemic or what, but... just for the record, to us Italians Monte Cassino is still a rather bad memory, after the Allies bombed it out... rather unnecessarily as it turned out. Too bad that it was done on the request of a thoroughly distinguished and competent officer, whose career is marred only by this particular fact.

Bottom line? Never forget that, other than lives, war also destroys priceless monuments like this one.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, I included this panel for the very reasons you listed. Monte Cassino deserves to be remembered for the sake of the various armies engaged in one of the toughest actions of the war, and for its loss as an achievement of Western civilization. Most recognize now that the destruction of Monte Cassino was an avoidable cost to pay for victory, and it has come to symbolize the utter waste of war.

Thanks for the reply; I was afraid my comment had been a little bit too provocative. Now I see that you had already thought in advance when you made this pic.

Oh, man.. Gotta love the look of Stalin in the first panel. He's like, "What the heck am I doing with these guys? I know I need them to crush those damn Nazis but..." Believe it or not, Churchill actually had a plan for WWIII. He didn't trust Stalin, so he and his military planners prepared Operation Unthinkable, which would have pitted the Allied forces against Soviet troops across Europe when Europe was divided between the Allies in the west and the Soviets in the east. Fortunately, his plans never transpired, as the Americans were too weary for another war.

Ah, Monte Cassino...great Batlle. Did you know Polish army has a bear, which helped during this battle?

Also, I like how you draw the Big Three

Thank you. That is a good link that you posted about Wojtek. At Monte Cassino, donkeys proved to be more valuable than trucks, and who would have thought that a mascot bear would prove valuable during World War II?
