Thanks very much, I'm very glad you like it. I've only been doing macro for three months, I feel like I've turned a corner with this one.

Wow that's amazing, this looks like a shot from someone who has got all the technical elements all sorted, looks very professional to me. What lens are you using?

I used the Canon EF 100m f/2.8 USM macro and 68mm of Kenko extension tubes on this one.

That sounds like one serious good lens but then you get some seriously good results, nice one

Thanks. I've actually made another major breakthrough in my limited understanding of Macro photography in the last 8 hours! I was practising what can only be regarded as a naive control over the speed of the flash. I had totally failed to appreciate the relationship between the flash speed, the aperture, and light lost with the extension tubes.

In order to keep the flash speed as quick as possible I need to be far more proactive in assessing how much light I am losing and need for any particular magnification and subject.

I am preparing to engage my brain...

I've just ordered my new camera and it's really encouraging to hear of your quick progress in this field. It will be a while before I can get a dedicated macro lens but your work has really enthused me

Great news. With luck your lens will gravitate to you and you'll be creating great macro in no time. I would never have dreamt I would have the equipment I have now. It is amazing what a powerful mover of worlds the desire to emulate is. I have been been greatly inspired and encouraged by people of all levels, means and skills here on DA. They have filled me with a great enthusiasm and desire and that must be what you are picking up on, so I can't really take any of the credit. I'm like a conduit. But that is pretty cool.
