Macro is very demanding, it naturally builds critical awareness.
Particularly in regards to focus and quality of light, demanding
that you build awareness of the different aspects that make a
good photo. If you get into it and really grapple with it, you
will be a far smarter, savvy photographer in no time.

The problem with learning and understanding your camera is that
all too often you get to coast. Reviewing photos that excite you
stimulate you but haven't stretched you or demanded anything of
you. Macro demanded I improve my technique and understanding of
photography. I started doing it in April 2011 and it made a
nonsense of the previous 30 years I spent with a point and shoot!
