Starswirl had tears in his eyes as he held the scroll before him. It was from Chestnut. His heart ached for his dear friend. And Sombra, the lad had barely known his mom and to now lose his father! Meanwhile, Celestia and Luna were in a heated argument. "It's your fault I couldn't go," Celestia said, "Always whining, you don't have to do everything we do!" "Bite thy tongue sister," Luna replied, "You always go to the other world! I've only gone twice!" "Maybe if you weren't so immature, Starswirl would take you." Celestia mumbled. "Why you little-" Luna began as she tackled her sister. The two started fighting one another, Celestia putting Luna in a headlock while Luna yanks her hair. Starswirl scowled as he snapped, "Princess Celestia! Princess Luna! You stop this nonsense this instant!" Luna and Celestia stopped at once. Never did Starswirl yell at them in such a way. They pulled from each other as they stood side by side. "A Princess would never behave in such a manner," Starswirl said, "For Equestria's sake, you're sisters! Apologize this instant." The two young alicorns looked at Starswirl. Although there was anger in his tone and attitude, his eyes indicated he had been crying. "I'm sorry." they said to one another, hugging. Starswirl huffed, "That's better." Turning his back on them he said, "Now then, the two of you go get your royal attire on and meet me in the study hall." "What for?" Luna asked. "Just do as I say." he replied as he stalked off. Luna and Celestia looked at one another as they obeyed.

The three ponies stood in the study hall, professional attire and all. Starswirl began to fix Luna's mane as she made a face. "Starswirl, what's the big deal? Why do I have to dress up professional? There's nothing on our schedule today!" she said as he fixed her bangs. "Hush now Luna," he said, "I want the two of you to be on your bets behavior. No arguing, no horse playing, and I want you to show the upmost respect, you hear?" "We always show respect." Celestia said a little puzzled. "It's different this time." Starswirl said turning away. As he walked, the two princesses followed. Celestia's ears perked when she soon realized the way they were going. As they approached the mirror she said with glee, "We're going to the other world!?" Starswirl turned around, "Yes, but we're not there to play games, you hear!" Celestia and Luna tilted there heads. Why was Starswirl being so harsh and vague with his words? They nodded as they followed him through the portal.

Ponies were all making there way inside of Canterlot castle. As Starswirl lead the Princesses, Celestia and Luna exchanged a concerned look. They could feel that the atmosphere of the room held sorrow and sadness. Going into the thrown room, Starswirl sat towards the front with Celestia and Luna sitting by his side. Exchanging the same thought, Celestia dare say, "Starswirl, what's going on?" Starswirl looked at the two young girls. His eyes shimmered as he simply replied, "Just listen." The thrown room was packed as ponies stood by the door, fly in place, and gathered close. Soon music began to play. Immediately everyone went silent as the royal guard came marching in from the sides. They stood in a horizontal line, standing at attention. Squires, Servants, Cooks, Maids, Teachers, and other royal officials came walking down. Celestia had never felt more confused in her entire life. What was going on? She recognized the brown unicorn, Chestnut was her name, as she came walking down. She held a pillow with her magic as she came to the center of the edge. Everyone looked to her as she started, "Citizens of Equestria, we are gathered here today to witness history in the making. King Leoford has lead this kingdom for many centuries alongside Lady Spark. Peace has been brought to the land as we have grown strong over the years." Ponies cheered in agreement. "He was a fine leader, he had done more than being a King. He was a friend. A lover. A father." she continued. What is she talking about "was"? Celestia thought. "King Leoford was never a stallion to want to mourn for long," she said, "So in memory of our beloved King Leoford, let us celebrate this day!" The ponies cheered. Chestnut turned her head as she watched Sombra walk down. He stood tall as he approached her. He was only a few inches taller than her as he gave a humlbe nod. He kneeled down as Chestnut used her magic to pick up the object laying on the pillow. It was a blue head crown, with a golden jewel at the front. Celestia's eyes were wide as she now realized what was happening. As Chestnut placed it on his head, he stood up taking a step forward. "Citizens of Equestria," Chetsnut announced, "Behold, King Sombra!" Ponies stood up and cheered in unison, "KING SOMBRA! KING SOMBRA! KING SOMBRA!" As the cheering continued, only Celestia stayed in place. King Leoford was dead.

As everyone started to mingle and interact, Starswirl approached Chestnut. "Starswirl the Bearded," she greeted, "I'm glad you came." The two exchanged as bittersweet hug. "I wish I was there." he started. "It was his choice," Chestnut replied, "Now, we look to King Sombra." "And we'll be here if you ever need us." he said. Starswirl looked to Luna as he nodded at her. "My deepest sorrow goes to the loss of King Leoford," she bowed, "May King Sombra lead for many strong years and make the Kingdom more flourishing." Chetsnut smiled, "Encouraging words, young Luna. You are becoming a fine young Princesses." She beamed at the praise as she took a step back. "Princess Celestia, do you have-" Starswirl began as he turned to face Celestia, but; to his surprise, find her missing. They looked around them as he asked, "Where did she go?"

Celestia ran down the hallways. As soon as the ceremony was over, Sombra had been escorted out by the guards. It didn't matter, however; she was going see him. "Why must this place be so different and yet the same?" she cursed. She made her way pass the hall of mirrors as she turned the corner. Spotting some stairs, she rushed up them. On the next level, she continued to search. She passed by a opened door as she came to an abrupt stop. Walking back to the opened door, she poked her head in. The room was filled with books, games, and other sorts of discoveries. Slowly walking in she spotted some moonlight coming in, along with the shadow of a pony. Her eyes followed the shadow to find Sombra, standing in front of the window. Sombra looked at his reflection with sad eyes as he saw Celestia's reflection appear behind him. He looked to his side, the two were quiet. "Princess." he said. "Sombra." she said softly. He looked back at his reflection as he slightly chuckled, "Well, it's King now." Celestia gave a soft look as she came by his side. The two looked at their reflection in silence. Celestia looked at Sombra. "I appreciate you coming." he said. "I'm always here for you." she said. Another silent pause. "Do you miss them?" Sombra asked. "Who?" she asked. Sombra looked at her as she read his face. Celestia looked down slightly. "Of course," she said, "But I know they are always with me." "Yeah, everyone always says that." Sombra said, "I should have been the one." "Don't you dare say that!" Celestia snapped, "It wouldn't have been better! You're father did what he thought was best!" "To what? Leave me?" Sombra looked to her with tears in his eyes. "I'm not ready for this," he said, "I'll never understand why he did this to me! It was enough with mom not being here and now him too? Now I have no one!" Celestia took a step back as if she were physically hit. Sombra lowered his head as he let his tears fall. "We are never alone," Celestia replied, "Never think you're not enough because you are." She tilted his chin up so that they can look one another in the eye. "You are more of a King than you think." she said, "And no matter what, they will always be with you." They stood for a few moments as Celestia slowly walked past him. Sombra straightened up as he used his magic. Under his cape pocket he pulled out a purple, silk, fabric. He held it in front of his face as Celestia turned her head. She had tears in her eyes as she looked at Sombra. Her heart ached as she walked towards the door. Before going out she said, "I'll see you around." And with that she was gone. Sombra looked at his fathers special fabric he always wore. Sighing he recalled his mothers words "My Sombra, my prince, my son. Do not cry, I know this will be very hard but please child do not cry. It's going to be alright. No matter where you'll be, no matter how long we seem to be apart, mama will always be here for you. Promise me that you will always put your love for those in need first. I love you, I love you oh so very much. This isn't goodbye so I'll see you next time." And right after his fathers words "Promise me you'll lead this kingdom in love and kindness." Bittersweetly he laughed as he wiped away his tears. His heart felt warm as he tucked the purple fabric into his chest attire. He turned to where Celestia had left. By now she would have already been on her way back to her own world. So in the meantime, he would get to work on his first royal task. So that when she returns for the next visit, he could show to her how he really felt. As he made his way to the door, two ponies stood there in the moonlight. Both unicorns, one a beautiful brown maiden and the other a handsome knight with a bushy mustache. They watched Sombra go off as they held onto each other. Soon they started twinkling away, with proud smiles to last forever.
