So I think it's best if I just give you the summarized version for now, we will go more into depth later. If anything I'll come back later once "When We Were Young AU" is complete, to give the full detailed story. Here is the shortened for now~

The day King Leoford and Lady Spark Light discovered they were having a baby was a joyful day in the Kingdom. This is what the two ponies have been dreaming of ever since they first met in the park. Rose, Lady Spark's sister, was worried of course due to her sisters frail past. None the less, the birth was a success as a healthy baby unicorn colt was born. Spark and Leoford adored there son to death, would even put aside important tasks just to be with their little boy. Leoford would tend to baby Sombra whenever Spark had to be away on royal duties. During those times, he would help his son with the basics of magic, like levitation, and would become amused when he did 'peek a boo' with Sombra. While playful with his son, he was also firm when it came to acting his age and being a good young colt. Sombra loved his father while having the upmost respect for him considering he did a lot for him. And Mama Spark adored her little Prince. She would find it warming everytime when Sombra would come curl up next to her whenever he was feeling scared, alone, or just when he wanted some love and affection. Sombra loved his mother dearly and would always look for wisdom when he felt troubled. The family was happy and yet a troublesome secret lied deep down. Five years pass by when trouble starts to arise or at least trouble is unfolded. Ever since she gave birth to Sombra, Lady Spark knew she was growing weaker. It got worse as time passed by but she would not let the burden on to her beloved husband and son, knowing there would be no way to prevent this even if she said a word. The dreadful day came when the family were out on a picnic and Lady Spark fell suddenly. By the time they got her to the hospital, the doctors knew she would soon be on her way. King Leoford was desperate for any way to keep his loved one alive, to find any way to cure her from whatever was making her weak. For him. For their son. But Lady Spark knew there was no use to try. She had her final words with her love before she wanted to see her beloved, beautiful baby boy (who is now 5). Though he was young, he knew clearly of the circumstance and had a broken heart. Lady Spark, however; always found the light even in the darkest of situations and gave these last words to her son, "My Sombra, my prince, my son. Do not cry, I know this will be very hard but please child do not cry. It's going to be alright. No matter where you'll be, no matter how long we seem to be apart, mama will always be here for you. Promise me that you will always put your love for those in need first. I love you, I love you oh so very much. This isn't goodbye so I'll see you next time." And with that, Lady Spark was no more. It was a sad and hard time for everyone. But even though it was sad, Leoford and Sombra couldn't help but still smile bittersweetly, for every so often as they are out having a picnic, they could still hear Lady Spark's sweet voice in the air.

Man I can't deal with this much heartache, and to put my sweet innocent mirror boy through this! But it had to be done in order for him to be the amazing leader he is today.
