I loved the way you could make me happy in my tears. Like when my dog, Samson, died. You told me not to worry. You said, “It’s OK. He’s in doggy heaven now. He’s chasing cats twice the size of the one next door.” Do you remember that? We were eight. You got sick that year, too. Everyday I bugged my mom to make soup that I’d bring to you to make you better. I loved you even then. You’re the only girl I’ve ever wanted to be with. I’d dream about you and me holding hands, and I’d wake up with a smile on my lips. I guess what I’m trying to say is I can’t imagine life without you.
