Description

Jasmine flapped her wings and landed on a branch of the fir tree. She gripped it tightly with her tiny talons. She looked over to see that not too far away Luna was doing the same.  Jasmine fluttered to another branch.  She preened a few blue silver feathers on her breast. She fluffed herself up and took flight she heard no noise and became excited, everything seemed to stop and she saw battle and blood, she shook herself out of the idea as time caught back up with her. She hurtled down in a dive pulling her wings close to her body and pulling them out before she hit the ground. She flew up and landed beside her sister. Luna’s grey/silver feathers shown in the light of the moon. She looked at Jasmine in awe “You can fly.” She said Jasmine giggled and the great grey opened her amber eyes and nodded. She saw her older sister Iris and her two older brothers Cliff and Clay hop up in down for joy.

Her mum Moonflower beamed. Jasmine flew back to where she was and watched as her Da Hildagrow went back to teaching her younger sister how to branch. Jasmine had been at this longer than her. She finally took flight the moon shining through her flight feathers. Aron Jasmine’s orphan best friend took flight as well. Jasmine did the same and she knew that her silver feathers matched the moons rays and that her sapphire accents glimmered. She hoped that she didn’t outshine her sister Luna. Jasmine let out a cry of joy, she could fly she could! Then Brock her eldest brother came up from behind her, “You’ve done well.” He said happily his turquoise feathers seemed to give off their own rays of light. Jasmine was speechless her brother was always out he was never around he had seen her fly! Jasmine was speechless “Thank you.” She finally said he then went out to Luna to congratulate her.

Jasmine’s mother came up to Jasmine she pulled out a sapphire silver feather from her breast. She handed it to Jasmine “So I’ll always be with you.” Moonflower said. “Thank you.” Jasmine said. Jasmine’s wings were getting tired from flying so long. But her Da flew faster and faster she was going to keep up.

Jasmine was in the middle between Aron and Luna. Aron was a barn owl his parents had been good friends with hers. They had found their dead bodies outside the hollow.  Jasmine had found him hiding he had been brought up by Jasmine’s family since. He was always frightened by Great Horned Owls he couldn’t remember why. He acted happy but Jasmine could tell that he was thinking of his parents. She flew so close to Aron that their wings brushed against each other. He swiveled his heart shaped towards her, his black eyes full of thought “Do you think my parents loved me?” he asked his voice full of heart ache “Of course they did! They died protecting you, don’t ever think differently!” Jasmine said her voice as sure as her mind. He looked at the chain around his neck there chained up was a flight feather of his Mum and Da. “I miss them.” He said tears welling up in his eyes. “I bet you they miss you too.” Jasmine said. Luna being the quiet one just nodded her head.

Aron’s eyes got wide as the harvest moon above their heads. He let out a screech of warning. Jasmine saw why a group of Great Horned owls were flying at them! Aron’s flying became wobbly and weak. He went yeep. Jasmine dove and gripped his talons so hard she saw a bit of blood drip off. He did the same. Jasmine saw Luna fly in a dive with a golden elf owl at her tail feathers. “They killed my parents.” Aron said angrily.

Jasmine screed and dove letting go of Aron who had pulled himself together. Everyone did the same. They dove and flew through the trees Jasmine in the lead.  A few of the owls had battle claws, that was bad. Jasmine’s plan seemed to work a few owls hit trees a few fell behind. Jasmine whirled around to see a great horned owl oak in color slash across Hildagrow’s breast then across his stomach. He fell blood dripping down his body one wing crippled the other nearly torn off. “NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” Jasmine wailed as the battle raged on between her mother and siblings. Luna was grabbed by a great horned owl so were Jasmine and Aron. “ARON!” Jasmine wailed as he was grabbed and yanked away from Jasmine. The great horned holding him flew ahead “I’ll find you!!!” Jasmine yowled at the top of her lungs. “Me too!” he said and was ripped away from her sights. “I PROMISE!” She yowled her gizzard churning. “I promise.” She whispered

Jasmine woke up and flew straight up to the top of the hollow. Gylfie was worn out from fanning her and Soren from  screeching. Digger hurt from fanning as well and Twilight from shaking her. She flew up there her breathing so fast and hard that it was hard to breath. She started out of the hollow but both Soren and Twilight pulled her back in. She gave up and let herself get yanked back into the hollow. “What is up with you?” Twilight asked “Maybe she’s sick.” Gylfie said “With what she couldn’t get sick if she tried!” Digger said “I am going to find him if I die trying.” Jasmine said making no sense at all. “Maybe she’s gone yoinks.” Digger said “I am not yoinks! I am going to find him, I promised.” Jasmine said trying to leave the hollow again. This time Twilight blacked her path.

“Find who?” Gylfie asked hopping over to her friend. Jasmine took a deep breath “An old friend, and I NEED to find him!” Jasmine hissed “What is his name?” Soren asked like he was speaking to a newly hatched chick. “His name is Aron, he’s a barn owl orphan.” Jasmine said as though she had explained it already. “When did you last see him?” Digger asked “When I was brought to St Angelis Academy.” Jasmine said with a voice that lacked hope. “I promised I would find him and I am not breaking that promise!” Jasmine hissed “Well where do you think he is?” Soren asked “I DON’T KNOW!!! BUT I WILL FIND HIM!” Jasmine howled shaking her head back and forth furiously. “Well do you have a plan?” Gylfie asked

“No I don’t have a plan! But I am sick of having nightmares!” Jasmine yowled “This is the first time you’ve been screaming in your sleep.” Digger said  "I can only hold back so much." Jasmine said her eyes burning with a fiery intencity that showed nothing. "I'm going to go talk to Alex." Jasmine said staring down Twilight, she was the only owl who could intimidate him. He stepped aside and she flew out her silver feathers glittering with the moon's light. Jasmine flew up in the air and met up with her newly made friend Alex, a large female masked owl who enjoyed writing dark poetry.

Twilight looked up at her through yellow eyes, Why must she be so secretive he wondered his wings slumping to down. "I'm worried about her too." Gulfie said hopping over to where Twilight stared, "We all are." Soren said Digger joining them, doing nothing more than nodding his head briffly. You can't be worried like me... Twilight left the thought hang in his mind. Not like me he repeted.

Alex was coverd in soot and ash. "I've in the forge, it's great fun, Bubo said I have a real nack for it!" Alex chirped her beak smuged with black soot."You too?" Jasmine asked in the happiest hoot possible. "What's up with you, you look worse than that time when Twilight set your tailfeathers on fire?" Alex asked laughing at the thought. Jasmine laughed they had landed in front of some enormus intertwining roots of the great tree. "I still forgave him for it." Jasmine smiled "Speaking of unprdictable moments, where's Caleb?" Jasmine inquired thinking of the milky white barn owl with the back of his wings a color like buttercup. "Sleeping." Alex said sarcastically "I'm going to wake him up!" Jasmine squealled with delight at the thought. Alex's ash coverd wings drooped, and shot Jasmine and expression that clearly stated "But I wanted to!". "You did it last time! Jasmine said enlightining herself on a branch outside Caleb's hollow. Inside it was a few other guys Jack (Masked owl), Dylan (Caleb's brother Barn owl) and Adam (screech a deep maroon).  Jasmine let out an ear splitting screech, (not as good as a Barn Owl) just enough to scare the living daylights out of them.
