I'm trying to find my own style too. I know that you have a lot of influence from VK when it comes to drawing eyes but I don't think you have to come up with something entirely new. Just kind of go with it and as your own style develops I think the way you draw eyes might change as well.
Because I do a lot of fan art for different series, I've had a lot of varied influence and when someone asks me to draw an eye, I don't really have a specific style. I use references a lot but I'm trying to break out of the habit of using them so much. I kinda need to go back to the basics and get good handle on basic poses and stuff so I can do more original stuff. So I really admire you for going for your new style and I can't wait to see all your new stuff.
