According to a discarded piece of paper found inside the ruins of Tere's shrine, Maple found peace in devoting her life to the Tere Goddess.

Maple started her life under poor conditions. She learned early on that there was no such thing as a free meal and, just to get by, she had to be cunning and deceitful. She found common interest in another and they became best friends. The partners in crime would use their charm to get anything they wanted and they would be happy.. for a while. While her best friend was convinced that life was perfect the way they lived, Maple couldn't help but wonder if her life had a different purpose. And with that, she left on her journey.

As Maple wandered through forest after forest, she found herself weary and starving. About to collapse, she barely saw a silhouette of a fawn and a mysterious sprite. The sprite handed her a loaf of bread and an apple, then left. After consuming the food, Maple felt deeply touched by the kindness of the stranger and followed in the same direction. She eventually came upon the Altar of Tere, and found inside the stranger. The stranger happened to be none other than the Goddess of Tere herself, Moss. Tears filled Maple's eyes at the thought of the Earth Goddess showing her such compassion when so many others have shown her despair.

Maple decided right then and there to devote her whole life to the Goddess before her. The teary-eyed sprite's past saddened Moss but she was hopeful for her future. And with that, Maple began her life as the first altar guardian of Tere.
