Description WIP shot of a commissioned pony OC. This is my first "tall" pony, I think I did pretty well. To the left is a reference image I printed and used to measure wire for the armature. I'm going to upload a little tutorial for how I do that, that explains what the lines and holes in the paper are for.

The dark spot on her head is where I put a bit of black wool to see if it would cover the white core, or if I'd need to shape the last bit of the core with black. Turns out the super fine wool covers very well, so I finished with undyed core wool, but a tiny bit of that test patch is still visible.

I take commissions, but at the moment my waiting list is full, sorry. I'll post to my journal when I have room.

I'm attempting to make a pony and for the life of me can't get the proportions right....how did you get it to work?

Well you can see from my pic that I printed out a side view (It's from the Pony Creator) and I used that as a reference. But I also used it to build the armature. The lines drawn on the printout show where the wire for the armature goes. I pinned that picture to a cork board and placed pins at points along the guide where the wire would need to bend. Then I bent wire around the pins in the shape of the guide. That gave me an armature the right shape and size. Making the wool in the right shape was just sculpting, like with clay. My trouble is that my normal style isn't as super-deformed as the MLP style, so I have to refer to my reference images a lot.
