Ironhill Chapter 19:
Road Rage

"So far so good Kazez... not much since da base " Blnk shouted, loading a new drum into the twin-linked Willowind LMG

"Sure hope it stayz dat way! This be a scout car, not some combat car" Kavez shouted back.

"Bink still thinks dat we should have used da Thumper AC."

"You idiot, and what ya gonna shoot with dat thing? Now shuttup and keep a lookout, we's still got a few clicks away. "

Bink scowled at his companion's rebuttal. But well, at least they were on their way, and at the speed they were going, not very long before they reach Lizardrock base....
And finally some rest. He smiled, then decided to strap himself onto the LMG.... as a safety precaution.

It was at that moment that they passed right in front a 6 wheeled, cultist armoured car in one of the rubble strewn streets.

"KAVEZ! Armoured Car!!! " Bink shouted.

"AWW CRAP!! HANG ON!!!" Kavez screamed, flooring the accelerator and putting the Spider scout vehicle on full throttle.

The armoured car gave chase, firing shots wildly from machine guns and the main cannon. Bullets flew wildly, ricocheting off the scout vehicle, fortunately the main gun of the armoured car missed horribly, blowing a hole in the road. Despite the armoured car's best efforts, the much faster scout car easily outran the metal monstrosity, leaving it further and further behind.

" HAH! Eat my dust cultist Freeks!!! " Kavez screamed back at the armoured car.

Then they notice the armoured car taking a left turn on an intersection.

" Given up ya cultist bastards??? " Kavez jeered, racing down the road... only to realise that the highway ahead is blocked by rubble, forcing him to take a left turn.

Bink then suddenly remembers this part of Ironhill village. The road goes in a loop... and the car is trying to cut them off, intercepting them at the next junction.

"Kavez!! It's a loop!! Da cultists are tryin to cut us off!!!" Bink shouted, getting the gun ready.

"AWW *#$&!! Hang on! this is gonna be close!" Kavez yelled back. He raced the battered scout car round the loop, then he sees the cross junction ahead and the armoured car through the holes in the ruined buildings.

"GUN IT KAVEZ!!! " Bink replied in a loud shout.

They drove straight in front of the waiting armoured car, Bink fired the LMGs at the cultist vehicle, trying to button the vehicle, exchanging fire with the armoured car.

Bullets ricochet wildly off the Spider scout vehicle, some sparking off Kavez's armour. Another shot from the main gun of the Armoured car barely missed turning them into scrap, blowing another hole in the road. Kavez ducked, keeping his head down, hoping that the bullets miss him in that second of hell.... then as soon as it happened, it passed and the bullet-ridden scout vehicle was once again speeding alone down the rubble-strewn roads. Kavez felt a huge amount of relief, the base was just a few minutes away.

"Har har!! We're clear Bink!! We're safe!! Damn cultists can't shoot for nuts!!!... Bink?..."
Then Kavez turned back, only to see his buddy lying on the back of the scout vehicle, bleeding from a bullet hole above his waist. Fortunately he strapped himself onto the gun, else he would have fallen off.

"Bink? Oh crap! Bink!! " Kavez shouted.

"Gahhh!! Bloody pain!!" Bink yelled... then he looked at Kavez, clutching the injury. " KEEP YA EYEZ ON DA ROAD KAVEZ!!! Crash and we're both dead!! Told ya to mount da damn Autocannon!!!"

Kavez gritted his teeth, then focused on driving. the base was in sight and he hoped the vehicle would hold together till then.

" Bink... " Kavez said.

" Yep Kavez... Gahh... " Bink replied.

" If ya die.... I'd hate ya forever. "

" Bink will hate ya too."

Cultist Armoured cars

Armoured cars are very commonly seen amongst cultist forces, especially the mechanised mobs of the Daemon Sun cult. They range from looted military armoured cars, to armoured civilian vehicles and even some cultist-manufactured vehicles.

The armour quality of these armoured vehicles is questionable as compared with coalition armour and also varies from car to car. They also are generally not armoured enough or have enough firepower to survive a head-on engagement with coalition armour.

However most armoured cars are impervious or at least highly resistant to small arms fire, often sporting solid tires or military bullet-resistant tires to reduce small arms impact on the tires. However, Autocannons and light anti-tank weapons are effective against them.

The weaponry on the Armoured cars also varies tremendously. Sporting anything from just machine guns to full racks of rockets. They often operate in small disorganised mobs, but sometimes go loose alone to wreck havoc. Their speed and manuverability making them a significant threat against coalition forces.

The cultist Armoured car encountered by salamander soldiers Bink and Kavez is a 6-wheeled armoured car manufactured by the Daemon sun cultists. This version is often capable of carrying a small squad of troops and is often armed with a hull mounted MG, a coaxial MG, a pintle mounted HMG and a main gun that is often a small cannon or sorts.

Due to the increasing number of such vehicles encountered, Coalition infantry are often being re-issued with the MK 19 "Sticky bomb" grenade as a backup weapon if they encounter cultist armour without proper anti-armour weapons.

And yes, finally another chapter of the first Battle for Scraparp comic-story is up
after about a 2 month delay

And yes, this is a war story, not some tea-party so there will be bullets, there will be blood and there will be people getting hurt.
