Description Farseer Azerial Darcia

This is what I was wasting much of my time over the free weekend doing. and Eldar Farseer.

Yes, been butchering a Farseer model and turning it into something like that in Dawn of War.

Unpainted, but submitting proper for now as this shows the converting and sculpting involved.... Also cause I spent bloody 6 hours at it. X__X

List of conversions:

1) Carved the robe to make it look like a cloak
2) carved off fin at helmet. Used that as the second blade of the spear.
3) replaced normal hand (that was flashing eldar vulgarities) with a shuriken Pistol (from me friend)
4) Carved off chest and re-sculpted a chest plate..... now it looks like a girl.
5) Added long hair
6) Added eldar finz (cut from plasticard, gems were made using green stuff)
7) Filed the back of the robe to make it look like armour (behind the neck)
8) Repositioned right arm and added green stuff to make the sleeve look beter.
9) Made singing spear double-bladed.

Weeee so many converting steps spent damn long at this thing. Donno why I'm doin it though. Probably for golden Daemon at the next half of the year.

Da panzies? Well, toying with the idea, but not anytime soon (Yes, save munny )

This is also to get back at one of my friends who says that farseers are old men.

Da mek workshop is open again This one's fresh from it

Eldar farseer is from warhammer 40000, from and (C) gamesworkshop

"All the Psychic power of the eldar
And she HAS to shoot someone in the head with the pistol..."

Well, this foxy farseer won me the coolest idea in a competition in the local GW store. Apparently she was very popular (posted her pic on the board due to popular demand actually)

See Journal Entry 120 for details.

I ended up getting an entire ork battleforce for it as the prize!!!

Yes she was a rather stubborn B#%$ to convert and base, but she's one hell of a show piece.

Now I just gotta paint her with something WORTHY of the conversion.

Snowfyre In reply to shadowfox1112 [2009-05-15 00:39:26 +0000 UTC]

They are cool. To me kinda rivals to Banshees for a slot in the force organisation of my army I treat scorpions as more of a generalist or soft-target killer while the more-popular banshees are better at killing hard targets (like termies). Yes, they are fantastic against soft targets like orks and gaunts.

ooh, cool, their my favorite unit in the eldar army, and are going to be the first models i buy of eldar (use them in my Tau army until i get more eldar, god knows the Tau could use them lol)

That reminds me of all the conversion crap I have to do for my extremely hybrid, not-making-sense-to-anyone-but-me army. Two different kinds of IG, Tau, and Eldar, all with a storyline and characters to go with 'em (don't even bother asking - read the book if I ever actually get around to it). I'm screwed. Know of any basic pointers in using greenstuff by any chance? Any little bit will help.

Snowfyre In reply to Mast3rSniper [2008-01-13 09:32:26 +0000 UTC]

O__o sounds complex.

As for greenstuff, well, my only pointers to you is to use blu-tack first and practice sculpting with that ( THough actual greenstuff is bit more sticky than blu tack, but it's good practice to gauge shapes and sizes and amount.

Also try [link] for actual carving greenstuff.

Snowfyre In reply to daemonicaura [2007-09-18 22:54:37 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmmm Not much. Helps if you use a sculpting tool (Spoon type) and also if you consider looking at all angles at it.

Also helps if you drew it on paper to familiarise.

Lol.
Lucky you got a girlfriend to help you pose.

Then again, you may consider doing a dry-run of the the sculpting with say blu-tack or plastercine before you commit to the real one. Just to get a feel.

Really impressive conversion, and great use of Green Stuff. Makes me wish I had the skill to do that on my own Farseer.

Can't wait to see it painted,
Cal

Snowfyre In reply to Calaith [2007-06-19 10:50:43 +0000 UTC]

Admittedly this is the third major green-stuff project I got involved in. So I am not too sure bout the skill thing...... it was just that for once i decided to go do something crazy and let my imagination shape the details.

Basically , Just do it. Though practice with blu-tack is a great way to get the shape prepared before actually doing it.... and gives you confidence in sculpting the thing.

Painted? Lol. She's still happily unpainted (have a comic bout that in my scraps.... though very crudely drawn) Will be a long time more before she's actually done.

Calaith In reply to Snowfyre [2007-06-19 11:40:16 +0000 UTC]

I know the feeling. Most my models from three years ago are still unpainted, and will probably never be completed.

The oldest model I have that isn't painted is about........... 1.5 years already.

As for the farseer, She will get painted over the holiday.
Going to use her for golden daemon.

Thanks.

Well, it'll be quite some time before I finish painting her.

Cause this one I'm saving it for the 1 month holidays in Singapore to slowly perfect
Cause I need to spend enuff effort painting to justify the conversion. (Took 5 hours!!! X__T )

Taytonclait [2007-05-07 03:51:23 +0000 UTC]

Serious conversions buddy!
I am most impressed with your sculpting work on the chest piece. I don't know what greenstuff is like to work with, but it looks like a tough medium to make curvy, polished lady-style armour.
The pose is nice and dramatic, and well balanced!

What colours will you paint it?

What's her name, other than Farseer of Foxiness?

and what do eldar obscenities look like?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to Taytonclait [2007-05-07 06:44:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Wasted too much time on this one.

Green stuff? Well it's actually made of two components.... a blue stuff and yellow stuff (I'm serious) and you mix them in varying proportions to get the green stuff. More blue stuff makes it more sticky while more yellow stuff makes it dry faster.

I use a even mix.

It's putty actually. So it's sticky and squishy at first (kinda like hard cookie dough) and gradually gets harder till eventually it sets and becomes almost as hard as plastic.

Ard' ? Yes. kinda. Spent bout 1.5 hours working on the chest armour to make it curvy, balenced and polished. Pose was kinda cause I liked a certain foxy look of her aiming the pistol (though in game terms...... she'd more probably be throwing the spear)

Colours? Probably mostly darker bluish colours (cause I like blue.... also cause that's the colour that I have the most number of shades for... so can do a crazy job. )... but of yellow (contrast). For the armour I'm doing something unconventional by using one of the colours I loved most: Metallic blue.

Her name? Oh, it's in the title
Azriel Darcia.

The obscenities? See [link] the Biel-Tan Farseer (at the bottom of the page)

ooooohhhhh.... Eldar are really tough to paint... It's preaty when you do it right.... But painting can be a real bitch around it... Plus You need the color coodination... And the GEMS!!!! Oh those annoying gems... Eldar are nice... Put they need ALOT of strategy...
