Chapter Master Samael- Samael was one of the many new Neophytes to the Ashen Souls Chapter around the 6th Century of M41. It was remembered by the group of Marines who chose him amongst a Village of Sootborn that he joined the many Neophytes to become a Marine for his Mother, but his courage, willpower, and immense care for his Brothers in arms. Samael went on to do the many trials required to become a Scout Marine of the Chapter and leading a group of Neophytes & kept them going despite being hunted by a few Veteran Marines of the Chapter on the Deathworld known as Goetia within the Home System of the Chapter. He and his group became Scout Marines and proceeded to beat all odds. He and his squad went on to become full fledged Astartes after successfully being tested by the many Soothsayers, Company Captain at the time, and Chaplains. Samael still remembered his Mother despite all of the excessive training and modifications to his body, sporting rose thorns on the base of his right Pauldron alongside a bracelet of mixed pearls and beads around his left forearm. Sadly, with due time; Samael lost his Mother to natural causes which earned him the nickname of "Orphan" from his Brothers. As Samael was assigned more missions alongside the Marines he grew closely attached to from his time as a Neophyte, his squad began to slowly diminish in numbers as his Brothers died. Samael despite being the last survivor of his squad, mourned his fellow Brothers by engraving their names in his Bolter, various spots on his armor, and even wearing various pieces of their gear that was salvageable. Samael moved through the ranks to becoming a Veteran Sergeant, moving on to join the ranks of the Deathwatch for extended periods of time until the 9th Century of M41. Samael has always worn his Deathwatch Pauldron and arm plating with pride & honor. Samael was part of the few squads who were sent to assist their Brother Chapter, the Blood Angels at Baal during the Devastation of Baal. This is where Samael lost a multitude of his Brothers and even mourned them greatly, gaining the nicknames "Mournful Son", and "Forlorn Blade". Samael had rejoined his Chapter and upon completing a few more missions, he was promoted to the 5th Sect Captain. After a decade, Samael joined the ranks of the Primaris Marines within the Chapter, being one of the earliest Marines to cross the rubicon. In the near future though, Samael would have caught the ire of the Chapter Master, having chosen the successor who'd lead his Brothers into battle. Samael would become the next Chapter Master in the early 42nd Millenium and lead his Brothers into the future of their Chapter's History. As this happened, Samael and his Chapter would be called to aid the Dark Angels and Primarch Lion el'Johnson in the Arks of Omen Campaign.
