You also live in a country where, simply by virtue of being male, you can be expected to give your very life - if necessary - in war to defend the freedoms of others. I find it rather interesting that a culture which sees nothing wrong with sending young men to die for the sake of cheap oil, would nevertheless be aghast at the thought of requiring a woman to give her child the same chance at life her own mother gave her. I think it is a bit difficult for women to understand how someone who has been raised to give their very life for "freedom" is going to view someone who, in the most developed nation in the world, would rather kill a living human being than suffer 9 months of inconvenience. Every man who registers for selective service knows what is expected of him, but can't help but wonder what we can reasonably expect of women. None of us want violence to occur, but if we can reasonably expect a man to sacrifice himself for a woman, what can we reasonably expect from a woman?

You make some interesting points, but a couple of things:
1. We are not in a draft; all men are not duty-bound to fight for the sake of oil or the interest of other countries.
2. Women should never be forced to give birth from rape or incest. They really shouldn't ever be forced to give birth *period*, but let's start with those two situations.
3. It's not "9 months of inconvenience", it's at least 18 years of your life being completely changed and sacrificing more than you ever expected.
4. I'm male.

Realistically speaking, 9 months is the worst be case; there are always adoptive parents waiting for newborns, if the woman truly does not want the child. But in terms of forcing birth; it is the child's will to live which causes this, not society itself. In this respect, the child imposes as much on its mother as you or I imposed on our own. Neither of our mothers knew what we would become, yet bore us regardless. Is it too much to ask of a woman that she make the same sacrifice her own mother made for her?

I don't believe in abortions at absolutely any stage, in fact I think it should be discouraged once the fetus has developed a central nervous system. My complaint (and inspiration for this image) is with hard-line pro-life men who want to punish women not only for making decisions involving their own bodies, but even when an involuntary termination of the fetus occurs. Anyone who seriously thinks women should be imprisoned for having a miscarriage has no business making laws in this modern time.
Legal adoption is also an extremely difficult and lengthy process that can take well over a year, and many are often turned away over very minor findings. Too often, agencies are looking for absolutely perfect parents.

The image is wonderfully done. I love that you can only see half of her face. I think it adds to the intensity in her eyes. Beautifully done, Snowy.
As for the rest.. well you have me on FB, you know how I feel. This subject enrages me like almost no other, so I'll keep my mouth shut on it here.
People need to stop trying to force other people to live by their ideas. This country was SUPPOSED to allow us to do that. If I want to live in a damn theocracy, I'll move to Saudi Arabia or Iran.

Thanks, I wanted to give it a strong intensity because as you said, I had very strong feelings about certain issues when I was making it. None of those laws would personally affect me or anyone I know in real life, but we need to stop only thinking - and voting - for what only affects us, and do what's right for the vast majority. I don't know how anyone could possibly justify jailing a woman for having a miscarriage or for a teen having an abortion after being raped by her father, and it's time for everyone with any morals left to stand up to those who have forsaken theirs.

That's the root of it right there. People have stopped giving a shit about anyone but themselves.
And unless you agree 100% with them, they don't care about you or anything you have to say.
And they vote like it.
And it's going to put the final nail in the coffin of the U.S., if we're not careful.

Agreed, and it's even that way on the left to some extent (although the left generally gives a shit about others on a large scale). I hope we learn what's right in the next year.
(edited my reply because I realized someone could twist that quote into justifying denying help to minorities).

Thank you, I'm really glad you like her! Yeah I would hope we can all agree on obvious things like that, but apparently not.Β

I have a pro-justice position. If you really want to abort a baby that is a product of rape, then you also need to be willing to execute the rapists. One did nothing wrong, the other did. The Idea that the one who did nothing would be punished worse than the one who did something wrong, just doesn't sit right with me.

I get that and I do support the death penalty in some cases, but I don't think terminating an 8 week collection of cells really counts as a "baby". Unless the mother's life is in danger, I'm against abortion at late stages (which are very rare anyway), but hypothetically, yeah I would certainly not want to abort a baby while a rapist gets 7 years in prison or so. The outrage is really over a a rape victim potentially serving more time in prison than her rapist, and that is utterly unacceptable.

It's a collection of cells capable of being a human with potential, and an abortion is a very permanent solution to an ultimately temporary problem. And yeah, rapist that can be proven with some genetic evidence and irrevocable circumstances do deserve something worse than what they are being given. The problems with the criminal justice system abound.
