Smacky wishes everyone a safe and happy New Year! May this be a year when we all defeat our own demons as easily as she does. Β
Just a quick render using my mask-everything method, this was the first one with an interior though. Still need to work a few things out, but this only took a day and a half and I'm pretty happy with it. Thanks for taking a look!

Thanks! I used to imagine she either keeps them in the 'sleeves' of her boots or that they attach to her scabbards. I'm not 100% sure now, maybe fae just summon them when she needs them.Β Β

A true comic book heroine!

It always bothered me that the fierce fighters in comic books and movies were always angry. Red Sonja is great in battles, but she was almost never friendly or frankly, all that likable otherwise. I wanted to make a character that was cute and fun, but could be ferocious when absolutely necessary; a "fighting Disney princess".Β

Yes, 'grim determination' always seemed to be the norm.Β That's a great observation.Β And maybe why I enjoy Smacky as much as I do!

Thanks, I think that's a good trait for certain characters, but it seems to be the norm (or pretty much the only trait) in fantasy. No reason why a fantasy hero/heroine can't be cute and fun and still kick butt.Β Β

There does always seem to be a dark underside to the fantasy genre.Β It's a pretty dualistic world - light and dark, no grey.Β But even the light seems to be teetering on the edge.Β So nice to have a heroine who can sing a happy tune as she slays succubi!Β
