First thought; she looks like a musical note! I love this; it's somehow got a bit of a Picasso feel to it, but with none of the sadness of a typical P. It's gentle and subtle but alive with color; what a yingyang juxaposition of so many feelings and emotions; peace and serenity against powerful energy and light; death and birth and plants dying and growing and space and sea (is she in the water? is she in outer space? on earth? in air?) breathing and drowning but not in terror, but rather, as a part of the normal circle of things (like a plant gently dropping a dying leaf, it's not sad, it's just what is, and ultimately, it contributes to the circle of life in a postive way) green yet blue -- and somehow, all these emotions are comfortably existing together, there is no fight, just even, relaxed contentment as if knowing things are balanced. It makes me happy to look at it, and makes me think, but comfortably so. Nice piece.

... :)

For once. This is really awesome since you mentioned the aspect of her being in either water or space or in the air. Because... there's really no definition. She's in what resembles water. But to me, the sea and space are totally the same thing. Unfathomable depths. It's the same symbolism anyway.

And the point about the plant as well... very perceptive :)

It's a personal piece (as are all of my recent and upcoming paintings), so it's going to be different for everyone. I don't put things up for people to guess what I'm feeing. It's all about the viewer's own experiences :) Of course it's also me sharing how I feel but that's a different thing.

I'm glad this makes you comfortable. I was very much at peace painting this

I didn't want to say this, Paul, but like, seriously dude I put up "advanced critique" for a reason.

I do this with pretty much all my paintings. With photos, it's cool to just chill and talk about random crap.

So, yeah. I'll take this conversation to your page :)

Some innovative animation studio is bound to stumble on to your page eventually, fall in love with your talent, energy, and sensibility, and just gather you up in its arms and wonder how it ever got along without you...
So much strength in every aspect of this, so much joy and deliberation over both the details and the overall composition and design-- the subtle work in the wave patterns of the background; the stylization of the figure; every movement of color, minor and major, and the yin-yang iconography of releasing one energy and gathering another... A quiet, confident tour de force from an artist of incalculable power.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

snowunmasked In reply to SRaffa [2007-07-01 04:14:40 +0000 UTC]

I never thought about the yin-yang aspect... in a way then I guess I failed because I always want to differentiate from the well-recognised iconography. But oh well :) I suppose this just means I was so engrossed with this for myself, that I've lost interest in what the audience might perceive. Which is totally awesome, actually.

The releasing of energy and the "quiet" atmosphere is definitely spot-on, though :)

Thank you kindly, Sam

oh come on MATURE CONTENT, what about the.... children... ehm

She reminds me of a leek! Seriously, the colour transition, from green to pale... something. Very delicate, beautifully (I hate that word) rendered orbs. Are those red things rose petals? It's as if she's dead (sort of floating, going down to the big no-no, dark maaaaadness) ... really really really love your latest two paintings, they're so "mature" compared to your other, rather childish... well, they're quite dark anyhow, but it's a great progress, make at least ten/twenty more, k?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

snowunmasked In reply to eclipsic [2007-07-01 04:18:46 +0000 UTC]

Oh, like they're gonna bust my nuts and remove this from my gallery.

There are tons of boob shots on this site that don't have mature content on. Please. She's not even showing vag, so shut up.

That, and come on. I spent the better half of the time on this piece trying to figure out the best colour palette, and when I finally found something representative of what I have in mind, along comes gay little faggot Eric from Sweden, telling me that she looks like a leek. That's just fan-fucking-tastic, you know GOD.

But yeah, I don't really care

And yes, those are rose petals.

And yes, I'm very much enjoying this current style I'm exploring right now. Well, not so much exploring, as it is just coming to me naturally. Which feels fucking great.

Thanks for commenting Eric.
