I totally understand that feeling of not knowing what to say to small comments! It's like when you're trying to end an awkward conversation in person... And I would hope you had fun making it! I'd love seeing that cute little face greeting me every time I logged in! It's really well done, and I'm particularly impressed because it looks so high-quality for something that's supposed to be so small... Some day, I'll figure out how the gif-username-avatar picture works... But for now, I will be adding the little cutie to my faves so I can look at it as long as I like. ^_^ Just something about Frisk makes me very happy..

Well, but if you don't know how to reply, then WHAT DO YOU SAY? What else CAN you do besides nod and delete the message? I mean, I've gotten messages before that have just been "XD" and that's it... Or it's some sort of emoticon or reaction (like LOL). And I never know what to do with those, so I usually just have to delete them...

I TOTALLY understand that feeling... I'm the kind of person who generally ALWAYS loves the main protagonist (Sora, for example, from Kingdom Hearts 2, because he can be both sexy AND adorkable at the same time). Frisk has that same feeling. And somehow, because I end up loving them, I always end up putting them in the worst possible scenarios... Maybe I'm just a sadist??? But yeah, I get where you're coming from with the angst... THE ANGST IS JUST SO GOOD, THOUGH. And this game gives you a LOT of possible material... Like Chara, for example. Honestly, I just couldn't believe they could be completely evil like everyone says... It just seemed too simple to have a "pure evil" character in a game where every single character has such depth.

(And it's not even really related, but I've always personally seen Chara and Frisk as female... Probably because of the way the sprites are designed? In any case, I know they're supposed to be ambiguous, but... And it seems like a lot of other people depict Frisk in a really feminine way too... Maybe it's just me being silly. XD)

YES!! I get those XD and LOL comments a lot and I just leave em there because I honestly don't know how to respond (or if it's something that seems illiterate or I just don't understand) (;^^) Usually I feel bad so I just leave it there and I get reminded that, "oh there's that one comment I never replied to... oh it's like 3 weeks old, it'd be awkward to reply now lol".

Yeess, Sora is a dork for sure haha xD but from the KH franchise I think I liked Riku a lot more ahha (I mean the blue hair c'mon) and his appearance in 358 days was mmmmmm. For me Undertale has such a big emotional connection and has so many potential feels that I have to just have to draw them experiencing angst ;-; Well then again my favorite genres when it comes to manga is tragedy, horror, psychological, gore and the like. Chara for me always has been a super interesting character where they're 'Not pure evil but they've also haven't been the best person' and I think that's what Toby Fox was trying to go for I guess but idk There's no way that these characters weren't given thought considering that all of the game's characters have their own personality.

And also same here!! I personally love the idea of Frisk as a female however for Chara I enjoy them as either gender to be honest. I'm guilty of depicting Frisk as a female in my artworks >////<

OH boy I know the feeling of ones you can't read... Sometimes, I just think: "Do they even English?" And only 3 weeks old??? Man, I just got through deleting over 900 messages from over four years ago... Whoops. On the bright side, it's nice to have my inbox tidied up. XD

Was Riku's hair blue??? I guess I always thought it was gray-ish white-ish... But I wouldn't put it past them to throw blue in there. XD Unfortunately, I never got to play past KH2, since all the other games are on systems I don't have and can't afford... T_T

And I can see that. Undertale is unlike any other game I've played in that whenever I go back to it, it seems like the more I know the story, the MORE emotional I get! (Usually, it's the reverse and bores me, but not with Undertale!) It's a feels train every time! And I'm with you on having to draw... This is the first thing that's inspired me to draw in a while! Perhaps it's because I have all these potential headcanons that I think are cool but may not actually be...

Psychological mind freaks are the best kind of media there is.   And I'm actually really happy because I've seen others around the internet also say that Chara isn't just the pure evil villain we cast them as. My theory, based off of others I've read and what we're given in the game, is that we "are" Chara in a sense, and Chara is guiding Frisk, so Chara is what we make them. It would also explain why Toby encourages us to use our own name for the fallen human. (But mine's too long!!!! TT_TT)

haha Hey, that's what Toby intended, to have Frisk be someone we could project ourselves onto! They're whatever we want them to be! (For me, I just NEED a proper pronoun to use since "them" is grammatically incorrect for referring to a single person... But using "s/he" would just cause more confusion and wouldn't look as good... Semantics. XD) You needn't be guilty of anything except awesome art! I suppose I think of Chara as a girl since Asriel is a guy... And I think their friendship is so adorable! ^_^ It may also be that Frisk and Chara are usually seen as "twins" because they've got such similar designs, which is addressed in the game. (Some people speculate that Frisk's soul is actually in Chara's body and that's why Chara is with Frisk... I don't know about that, but I think it's a cool concept. In my opinion, I think the real idea is to have it be symbolic, as well as confusing us during the intro into thinking Chara's memory is actually Frisk falling into Mt. Ebbott. )

Yes Undertale really is a well made game! I myself have a lot of headcanons as well that I'd like to interpret through art C:

For me I feel like I enjoy Chara as a separate entity. We are not chara and they are not us. Of course this is probably no way true at all considering all the theories that make the player directly linked to Chara and what not.

Yes I love the fact that Frisk can be interpreted differently and I love seeing all these said interpretations. (However some people still make a big deal outta them and have the need to correct people to say that the pronouns 'they/them' should be used). I like Chara to be either male/female because it can just work any way but I see your point about them being a girl. It definitely is cute :3 I haven't heard that theory before where it's Chara's body instead of Frisk but it sounds pretty interesting.

It probably was. After all, it HAS been years since I played any of the games I do have... XD Ah, really? I suppose that's true; I heard that the ones after KH2 didn't really have Sora, at least not as the main protagonist.

I'm constantly amazed by it! I listen to the soundtrack basically every moment I'm awake. XD I currently have a few "animated video" ideas... You know how you get an awesome idea for a song and a video, and you can see it all play out in your head but have no way of producing it? Yeah, I'm suffering through that. XD

You know, you make a good point. And actually, I don't ever really explain this very well (mainly because I'm usually busy trying to prove that Chara isn't just completely soulless and evil), but I agree with you. I honestly feel like Chara is in some strange limbo, where we are Chara, but Chara also exists in the game... Like they're guiding us and Frisk together... But we control them... Oh geez, now I'm breaking my own argument apart. XD

haha Oh really? I've seen some people actually complain to people calling them by the group pronoun, and will actually insist that they ARE a specific gender... I usually tend to go with what the actual creator says. Honestly, I'm the person that loves getting to have as much creative freedom for imagining "what's next" and "what else happened before the events of the game," but at the same time, I'd be dying to hear Toby's honest impressions and intentions of what everything should have been... Like, whether Toby ever actually imagined Frisk as being a specific gender. Or, heaven forbid, that yes, Chara is supposed to be strictly evil. I will accept his interpretation, but I'll still fight for them and their innocence! ;D

It is a pretty interesting theory... There are a TON of them floating around right now... I wish we all had one main outlet we could go to so that we could have one place to view all of these things... But then, people would probably still just post them wherever they want. XD Honestly, I'm just having trouble because I'm trying to write out the most comprehensive story theory I can think of for Undertale, to explain the events of the story, and the purpose and the roles of Frisk, Chara, and the player...

I mean, I already posted something like that on Steam, but I've read/heard/watched so many theories since then that have both boggled my mind and helped it understand and even think of new possibilities... It's a sensory overload!

Part of it includes the fact that, yes, I like the fact that we can use Chara as the person who is "bad" or "rebellious" or whatever in fan works. I mean, it makes sense in a way, mostly because of the circumstances under which they actually appear in the game... But I feel like people are now rushing into pushing Frisk into being naturally a True Pacifist, and Chara into naturally being Genocidal. And for me, I suppose... I suppose it just feels too "Angel and Devil" to me... I suppose my horribly judgemental self feels like those kinds of interpretation can be put out, but only if the person creating them can hopefully see that Chara isn't necessarily pure evil and the reason for Frisk's Genocide run... Wow. That sounded bad in my head, but it sounds even worse written out! I'm way too judgemental...

I guess I just wish people would be more fair-minded toward Chara, especially given the game's theme... I mean, it's kind of ironic, to be honest... Chara hated humanity, and with all the hate we, as the players, are giving them, wouldn't they be kind of right? I mean, Chara's basically bombarded with the blame... And it feels like no one's there to protect them... Which is kind of why I want to do it. I don't think I could ever advocate for someone evil (I constantly scream my desire for the villains' deaths in movies and such...), but Chara does not seem evil to me...

Most of what I think is speculation, really...

But I may still create works like the ones I've seen, since Chara can be what we want them to be, but so can Frisk... I guess I feel that people are just rushing into putting them in definitive categories when in all reality, they would be neutral until we came along. (Some argue that this would not be true of Chara since they existed and had certain thoughts and actions before the game's events, which makes sense. But Chara is also, presumably, still dead. We don't even know what happened to their soul when Asriel died!)
