Description For class we had to flesh out a world we have in our heads. The world I chose was one intended for that music/RPG I've had thought about for awhile. This character is Asher Lightfoot, an instrument crafter, at the famous music school, Fermata. He's a pretty happy-go-lucky guy so I figured flying a kite would do it.

I love the wind in this picture...
The perspective really adds to the feeling of movement and breeze. I love the colors, and I think I might want his shirt...
The shading is fantastic!

How've you been doing lately?

Yeah, I haven't been online too much because of my senior project >.< But at least now I log on whenever I take breaks so I can check DevArt every once in awhile.

Wow, this turned out nice! I love the composition... the positioning of the clouds and the kite flying back in the distance gives it great depth. I'm liking the character a lot, too! The shading on his shirt is masterful, and he's a real cutie to boot.

Looks great to me. I am always happy to see your paintings. Your skill is great and the style is very well-developed. I especially like your attention to the fact that the shadows on the side of his face would NOT be black/brown like so many people on the site would seem to believe. You are one of the few artists I've seen on DA who actually does the shadows just as artistically as the characters and everything else.

The sweeping perspective and colors suit this piece to a T. You've really captured the simple joys of taking a kite out on a warm, breezy day, and just letting things fly. ^__^ I love the arc of the kite, as well as the mirrored posture of the figure; it really gives you an impression of movement.

Excellent work as always, Soapdish...I never cease to be amazed by your talent.

I love love love the sky on this - the differnt colors in it are awesome to the max. And all the shading you did is totally drool worthy.
