Description Maximus the crocodile:

Maximus is a saltwater crocodile inhabiting the Lower Ord region in Kununurra, Australia and has been the prime target of a wildlife photographer and croc enthusiast named Jeremy Rooke whose webpage I will link down below. He allegedly performed a laser measurement on the specimen which yielded an estimate of 6-7m/19,7-23ft. This depiction represents the median of 6,5m/21,3ft. He has been seen and filmed many times over the years with the earliest definite description of him on YouTube being in 2013 and the most recent sighting in September 2022, there are multiple notable features about this specimen, for one his increasingly dark colour,a dark grey to black the osteoderms lining his back are worn and so are most of his tail scutes. The most terrifying feature though is his gargantuan head, usually crocodiles of his size range have a skull proportionally smaller to the body, in the largest recorded captive saltwater crocodile called Lolong the head was 70cm only 1/8,8 th of the 6,17m/20,3ft total-length. However there are exceptions where the head remains proportionally large, the most notable case here is Bujang Senang, he had a length of 5,88m/19,3ft and his skull is the largest measured by any scientist as Grahame Webb measured the cranial length to be 77,2cm hence the head occupies 1/7,6 th of the total-length. This is not too far from the proportions we see on Maximus who has a ratio of 1/7,8 putting his cranial at 83.3cm assuming a length of 6.5m/21.3ft. A representation of the skull in comparison to a human can be seen on my page. It has to be noted that these are purely estimates and do not necessarily represent the actual size of the animal as there always is a margin of error, however  footage depicting Maximus alongside other crocodiles aswell as cows makes it clear that he is a specimen of notable, yet still the only way to achieve certainty is to perform a formally documented tape measurement which takes time, money, luck and initiative.
