Description
A while back, i stated that i was going to tear the floorboards of the project up and create something new in its place. Something that took Sobek into a darker tone then previously. One of the bigger elements i wanted to explore was whether Sobeks origins were more tied into humanoid characteristics, instead of simply being a new animal species. While i did a poll vote to ask what people would rather have, i have recently come up with an idea that allows me to re-explore this idea for the character that would add to his backstory.

Here we see both Stage 1 and 2 with a design very much akin to a humanoid, rather then the reptile and theropod designs previously. This version of the designs is supposed to allow for a more expressive and relatable style, whether that be from his movements, posture or facial expressions, you will be able to tell what Sobek is feeling in his moments. Stage 1 depicts what is arguably the most unsettling of the stages, having huge unfocused eyes and a short stubby snout. While cute but also unnerving, Stage 1 shows the innocence of a mere child, and the primitive instincts of the beast within. Stage 1 is supposed to show you at first glance that this "thing" is not of the natural world, but is not outright evil either, leaving him in this world between worlds where it does not fit in.

Stage 2 depicts the aftermath of Stage 1's upbringing. Not so adorable anymore, Stage 2 has taken on a muscular build with an aggressive mentality. At any given moment, Sobek could lash out and tear a man to shreds. While human-shaped by form, Sobek is far too beastly and savage to retain complex thought. You are simply food to him, and he will find a way to eat you given the chance. By making him humanoid rather then the previous theropod, this gives a sense of lingering danger with Sobek. He looks like he could be reasoned with and talked to, but quickly that changes to reveal that he is no different then any killer animal in the wild. Then once he breaks free of his containment cell, no one knows what he will do or who he will attack, but the outcome will certainly cause panic in the facility.

Something to note however, I want to try and add a new motivation to Sobek as a character. While simply a kaiju oc at first glance, i have an idea i want to explore with him that hasnt been done before. Here is the prompt i am currently brainstorming:

At Stage 1, Sobek has been constantly abused, forced to endure painful tasks and drills daily. Hes been forced to watch his siblings get beaten and bruised for their wrongdoings, and is starting to display mental side effects from all this. Sobeks aggression would begin taking hold over his curiosity, causing outlashes at the guards trying to condem him. The hate of being contained and experimented on was changing Sobek more into an animal then what was first displayed. Vermince would need to find a solution to halting this aggression, as he could not harm the creature any further without killing it. While the other siblings became attached to objects like food or simple toys, Sobek developed an affinity to gym equipment. After multiple test took place, one of which was made to showcase the lengths of Sobeks intelligence, He had stumbled across a dumbbell which he quickly grew a liking towards. Whether it was the shape, the weight or the feel of it he liked we cannot say, but Sobek quickly displayed knowledge of how to use it. Throughout the various test with said objects, Vermince would supply Sobek with a variety of gym-related equipment, as a means to distract the creature from causing damage to its enclosure further. As another form of stress release, Sobek would constantly use the equipment, doing routines like bench-pressing, weight lifting, etc for every time it became stressed or angry. By Stage 2, the effects of constant working out gave Sobek a very muscular physique, unlike what was expected from his biology. With the recent death of his siblings and the never ending stress of test and experiments, All sobek would show affection for was the constant use of the gym equipment. It seemed to be the only time Sobek wasnt attacking someone or something was when the equipment was in use by him. It is theorized that with the combination of overabundance in testosterone from working out, the intake of many calories, and his mutations response to trauma activating, that Sobek was then able to then reach Stage 3, which was the moment Sobeks humanoid form had vanished, making way for a more beastial shape that would now carry onto its Adult stage.
