Description OHHH gosh this took like the whole day TuT

I wanted to try and draw Rosalina aka my favoritest Mario princess ever ;v; But I kinda wanted to try and maybe give her my own design sorta? So I drew this yesterday when I got home and then colored it here and HHHHHH I'm so happy with how this came out, I love it tbh ;;

I did try and not stray too far away from her original design, hopefully I did a good ;3;

Rosalina belongs to Nintendo, art belongs to me.
Hope you guys like it! ouo

Well yeah I wish Β could something nearly as thoughtful as Blaussi's comment but all I have to say is I love the idea of giving Rosalina your own personal touch, a breath of fresh air I should say compared to the usual regular run of the mil fan art piece.

Props to you Cas. You have done well child!

Normally, I would just tell you how cute this thing is, why I like it, why everyone else likes it, what my first thoughts are.
But this time, we're gonna analyze why this drawing works the way it does.

Are you ready?

The first thing that stand out in this modern piece of art, is how the Super Mario Character 'Rosalina' has a different clothing style than in the orginal works she is in. This has the effect of making her look younger, but why is that?

First off, the Bracelets. β€žBraceletsβ€œ have been around since 50000 BCE, and have different usages, for instance as a Friendship Bracelet, which is a sign of Friendship and is often used by little children, or the Charming Bracelet, which was used to ward off bad luck, and is now very popular in Europe and North America, usually worn by women or small children. From this small detail, we can already see why the Character 'Rosalina' appears younger, since she's seen with a kind of Charming Bracelet around both of her wrists. By this small design change, it's already clear that the Artist wanted to either wanted to make her seem like a young adult, or a child.

Her dress and shoes are continuing this trend, since this style of fashion is often seen by children, or teenagers. It's very close to the stereotypical Anime-like Outfits, in which girls usually wear short skirts, and have some Item near the neck, the outfits are usually colorful.

And as we speak of Items, she holds one in her right hand, a magic wand with a yellow star. Such a wand is usually used in media made for children, and is often seen in real life as a part of the usual 'Magic Princess' costume, constantly used for Children Birthday Parties.

For all these reasons, the average person viewing this digital artwork might be reminded of a child costume, and sees her as younger in this Drawing.

As for the drawing style, it seems like the Artist was going for a regular chibi style, which is easily noticable by the large head, feet and her small body. The Lineart is very thick, giving off a cartoonic vibe and mixed with the colors, makes it look very sticker-like. The White boarder around her takes this point further, as these boarders are used for stickers to make them fit in any environment and make them stand out. The White does exactly this for the Rosaline in general, makes her pop out of the background, and brings all the viewers attention to her.

This kind of style is often used for children, as they usually collect stickers and brings out another reasons why she looks younger than Rosalina's usual self.

The 'Luma' next to her, has the same cartoonic features as her, yet is much smaller and not as detailed as Rosalina, this has the reason to make the her the important part of the drawing, and make the Luma just a feature of it. The shadow under both of them is a very important artistical choice, as while it makes no sense, it is still a part of the cartoony style the Artist has chosen for this piece.

The background is Space, which fits both of them well and even people who haven't played the games she's seen in, can understand, due to all the star features on Rosalina, that she belongs in Space and has a lot to do with stars.

In conclusion, this Piece called 'Rosalina' made in 2016 by the incredible artist 'SockOwl', has a lot of thought put into it to make a popular character appear in a different light.

This is true talent.
