Oh fuck no, we use either ABS (for 3D-prints) or rotocast (for molds) plastic, with a pinch of fiberglass, bondo, and pixie dust. I don't think paper-mache - even with a year's worth of sanding - can be finished so smoothly.

Also it depends. Nonna and Katyusha, for example - two unique, 3D-printed, full-custom kigs -  went from an utterance of "hey yknow what'd be cool?" to finished within about three months, but that's because we were dedicated to them and didn't have many other orders to worry about. Ah, but wouldn't doing this via paper-maché be a much more rewarding process?
